WLIFW: Manish Arora

Manish Arora’s collection was all about the world of fantasy warriors!

There were metal armours, pop culture images like Mickey Mouse from Disney and from Japanese avant-garde artist Keiichi Tanaami, Japanese Samurai influences and anything medieval infused with pop-culture kitsch.

Crystals, stones, metallics, shimmer, constructed shoulders, layered textures, intricate embroideries, origami’esque construction and bead-work all made up the collection.

Cricket Couture!

Yes, it has finally happened! Fashion has found its way into India’s favorite sport.

Manish Arora and Shantanu-Nikhil were asked to design the outfits for the the eight leagues of the Indian Cricket League(ICL). While Manish designed for six teams — Chennai Superstars, Kolkata Tigers, Delhi Giants, Mumbai Champs, Hyderabad Heroes and Chandigarh Lions, Shantanu and Nikhil designed for two, Ahmedabad Rockets and Lahore Badhshahs.

Manish previewed his designs a few months ago, but Shantanu and Nikhil just recently revealed their designs.

While we love Manish to the core, I think the Chennai Superstars probably had a tad bit of a hard time slipping into theirs. They got the pink one, you see! 😉

For more pics of Manish’s designs, go here.

PFW: Manish Arora

Manish Arora returned to Paris Fashion Week a second time and this time his collection for Fall 2008 was inspired by the “warrior theme”.

The collection was predominantly silver and even with a warrior theme, Manish still has added a little bit of humor into it.(See the mickey mouse!)

I am just so in awe of Manish Arora, that I will always love all his collections. What did you think of it?
