Pardon Us, We Converted!

If you have read this blog long enough, you’d know that nothing puts us off more than excessive monogrammed anything, especially bags! And Louis Vuitton always made that list, because, for some reason, we could never figure out why everyone insisted on carrying the boring brown monogram when there were better bags out there, including some from Louis Vuitton itself!

Imagine our surprise when we saw the Louis Vutton Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear Collection! Marc Jacobs absolutely went to town with it! Talking of the bags, they were quirky, colorful and so over the top!

Am sure the Vuitton purists considered this, no less than a sacrilege but since we were never too big on the brown monogram, it didn’t take us long to be gushing over the kitschy, oh-so-fun bags! The Ostrich (below, left) is gorgeous and look at the difference those ombré handles make on that white, multi-colored monogram bag (below, right)!!

Hoorah to the retro-psychedelia!! These could easily be our favorites…

And, this, definately a front-runner as far as favorites go! So much so that Chamiya longed to pre-order hers! I predict many a young starlet sporting this arm-candy come Spring next year! It is trendy, summery and all things nice!

The show had a vibe that was new and fresh and we loved its irreverent nod to the monogrammed bags! Call it creative genius or commercial hara-kiri, but from us, it gets a big thumbs-up!

Book Launch Launches Bag’mania..

.. for us anyway!

The book launch in question was the photo-essay book about Sunil and Nargis Dutt written by their daughters Priya and Namrata. As usual, not only were the who’s who of Mumbai present but also making an appearance were their bags!

We (Well Heeled and I) couldn’t stop “oooh-ing” the uber-expensive Bottega Veneta Lizard clutch carried by Gauri Khan. (Life is really good when you are SRK’s wife!)

We also caught Simi Garewal carrying her favorite, the LV Suhali L’Aimable shoulder bag.

Buy via eLuxury

Finally, the fabulous Neetu Singh-Kapoor carrying the timeless Chanel quilted clutch!

Chunky Shoes, A Trend??

Source

Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2007 ready to wear collection did these super chunky, gladiator’esque shoes, almost invoking the inner dominatrix in a woman! And now, I notice the same sort of shoes being worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming Sex And The City Movie! Do I smell a trend?

Source And Source

Oh, and incidentally, the shoes that SJP is wearing are Christian Dior’s! And if you fancy a pair, found one on Ebay, take a look!

Vuitton In Pondicherry?

Source

Louis Vuitton is looking to set up a factory in Pondicherry, purpose of which would be to attach soles to its uber luxurious (and expensive) shoes. But, and there is always a but, the tag on those shoes will continue to read, ‘Made In Italy’ because thats where most of the work would’ve been done! Read more HERE

Mumbai Travel Notebook By LV

Louis Vuitton recently had a dinner to honor Wes Anderson and the movie “The Darjeeling Limited”. What piqued my interest about the event was the appearance of the “Mumbai” Travel Notebook by Louis Vuitton, which was given to every guest.

Mind you, this book is sold out! You can find every other travel notebook on E-Luxury except the “Mumbai” notebook. 🙁

The notebook consists of illustrations based on India by Florine Asch. Before you make a judgement about the illustrations (about having the “cliched” elephants, maharajahs and turbans), let me tell you that the book has illustrations on landmarks and city scenes(the mumbai dabbawallas!).

The notebook retails for $81, which in “LV” terms is pretty darn cheap, in my opinion. Gosh, now I gotta go and schmooze the sales guy at the LV store to get me one!

Check out the “Mumbai” Travel Notebook on the Louis Vuitton website by searching for “notebook”.
