LFW Winter Festive 2012: Gaurang

It was a burst of rich colors at the Gaurang show, the collection which was titled ‘Ardhagini’. Salwar suits, saris and lehengas presented in a colorblocked scheme sure made an impression with us. Showstopper Kirron Kher chose to pick a more demure sari to walk down the runway, which we thought was quite appropo.

LFW Winter Festive 2012: Shruti Sancheti

The nomadic theme in Shruti Sancheti’s collection, “Thar“, was apparent right off the bat especially with the layering and the use of jewellery. Using Shibori tie/dye as a backdrop, the outfits were accentuated with Kutch stitchwork.

LFW Winter Festive 2012: Vaishali S

Reverb was the collection that Vaishali Shadangule presented that wasn’t far from her signature style. The designer is known for using traditional weaves like chanderi, silk and brocade and presenting it on the runway in a more non-traditional style using layering and overlapping.

Being a long time fan of Vaishali’s work, I for one, loved some of the offerings.

LFW Winter Festive 2012: Debarun

Day three of Lakme Fashion Week focused on Indian Textiles. Taking inspiration from the iznik patterns of Turkey, Debarun presented a collection that was a mixed bag of maxis, separates and saris and all very wearable. We must point out that outfit on Ms. Chadda, the showstopper. How do you present such a coordinated collection and end it off with a completely mish-mash piece?

In Sonaakshi Raaj

Adah has this disposition about her that screams Cute. Wearing the peter pan collared dress only added to it. Except, while in theory the piano clutch and bow pumps should’ve added to the look, in this case they took away from it. We’d have paired the dress with kitten heels and a chain bag.

P.S. Anyone else see Atsu influence in this dress?
