WLIFW Spring 2013: Kallol Datta

Kallol Datta’s ‘Grotesque Nonsense’ was every bit as restrained and pared-down as it was unexpected. The immaculate and tightly reigned in drape and deconstruction was a joy. The mood may have been dark but the clothes were anything but. Loved this presentation.

In Kallol Datta

In a Kallol Datta tunic and leather leggings, Nina Manuel attended the Vogue anniversary do. The peep-toe heels that disappeared into the leather pants that disappeared into the tunic was a rather severe look but not in the least bit ineffective. Ms. Manuel worked it.

I did however have a gripe over the choice of clutch which just didn’t look like it belonged (with rest of her look). Would’ve much rather seen something metallic picking up on those bangles or just a plain black one making the red of her lips pop against the look even more.

In Kallol Datta

Spotted Kallol Datta both on Aparna (the tunic) and Anand (the scarf) at a recent store launch.

Dig the scarf on Mr. Kabra. Besides, always nice to see fashion-frat support each other!

In Kallol Datta

Making bit of a splash in Kallol Datta was Ms. Reddy at a recent launch. We are surprised by her choice of ballet flats to wear with the dress, wish she had picked oxfords instead.

Twice The Nice!

First, it was Fern who wore Kallol Datta to the White House when meeting the First Lady. And now more recently, Michelle Obama was spotted in a Bibhu Mohapatra dress. Woot! Love. Love.

Wonder if Ms. Mallis had anything to do with the First Lady picking a designer of Indian origin. It sure seems like it.
