Day 2: Siddhartha Tytler

Siddartha Tytler’s collection was called Fusion Earth 3000 AD and had the same earthy, organic vibe that a couple of other collections had! Because of the colors used and the silhouettes in question, to me, it reminded me a bit too of the Vikram Phadnis collection! While there were many similarities, like embellished structured jackets, what stood out was the fact that while Phadnis’ collection was predominantly glam, Tytler’s collection was far more laid back and urban-casual!

The color palette was once again dominated by beiges, browns and earthy olives. Printed fabric once again made an appearance. I especially liked the sleeveless vest/jackets!

An interesting collection. Not everything worked but it had its pluses!

Day 2: Ashima-Leena

After the last two collections I was beginning to get a little worried but Ashima-Leena’s collection put me out of my misery! The collection was titled ‘Resonance’, and resonant it was with Far East influences! Influences seemed drawn right out of blue pottery, kimonos, the colors, like those vibrant reds..it was beautiful!

All those patterns translated into exquisite digital prints on flowy fabrics made for stunning visual appeal! I mean, did you see how fabulous those saris look? Also, I loved the combination of that burnt orange with the blue print.. But my favorite has to be those whites with blue prints and a little embellishment! Gorgeous! Very reminiscent of someone lounging on an island like Capri!

The collection was really nicely done and I see pret doing very well!

Day 2: Darshta Sarvaiya

Darsha Sarvaiya’s collection was inspired by ‘ Great Expectations’, it must be me, because I fail to draw the inspiration as translated into clothes by her!

The runway was a riot of colors, even shimmer at times and the models were styled with great big flowers on their heads, often in contrasting colors, for me, resembling plumage on an exotic tropical bird!

The colors, the styling, all drew attention away from the clothes! That might have been a good thing, because I was looking and didn’t find anything noteworthy!

Day 2: Affascinare By Meher And Riddhima

Affascinare By Meher And Riddhima. The collection was boooring and repetitive and did I mention boring? The dominant color was white which was offset by geometric shapes. Over and over again.

Yawn.

Day 2: Vikram Phadnis

This is what I have been saying all along, give me a fresher perspective, give me a new twist, give me something that makes me sit back and go, yes, thats it! Vikram Phadnis does all that and then some! Color palette was brilliant, earthy browns and beiges, matt gold, deep burgundy, shimmery-gold-yellow and a metallic dust there, a shimmer here! He not only played with colors but also with textures! If there was a flowy dress, there was a quilted bolero jacket on top of it! And how fabulous is that yellow/gold dress? I loved the wide belts and structured embellished jackets!

And pay attention to the way the models were styled. Make-up was minimal, bare and fresh! Lips were light and eyes were not laden down! A trend am seeing in most shows!

Uber sexy. Uber glamorous! Loved the collection!
