Twenty Ten-Tastic: A Look At Some Stand-Out Moments!

There’s no scene quite like the Fashion scene (you know there’s a show-tune that goes just like that somewhere out there) and here’s the lowdown on what caught our eye in the year that was 2010.

The year belonged to women who weren’t afraid of making a splash and owning what they wore; not a wallflower in sight. The silhouettes, the colors, the cuts and the designers were all as varied as the months they were spotted in and the women sporting them, but boy did they work the stiletto out of them!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had two amazing moments on the red carpet, once in an embellished Elie Saab gown and again in a Sabyasachi sari at Cannes. The pale-gold sari had us swoon. Also having her moment on the red carpet was Freida Pinto in a beautiful Oscar De La Renta cocktail dress. Accessorized perfectly, this green dress was by far one of our favorites on Ms. Pinto this year.

Giving the sari it’s due were Bipasha and Kareena who sported non-blingy, un-filmi and anti-christ to the sequins- simple woven saris. Love.

Ira in Manish Arora, Feroze in McQueen and Avanti in Ashish gave us the spunk and the fun. Speaking of which, Natasha did Dolce & Gabbana at the races, a look that must have made Fashion Gods neigh happy.

While, Katrina and Twinkle took on the churidaars with the former in a Tahiliani anarkali and the latter in an Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla chikan kurta, Haseena channeled an old-world vibe in her lehenga. All three ladies did glamour in an old world, charming sort of way which we loved.

Kangna had her moment in Dior, in a beautiful white gown with a Shirley Temple’esque do. Nothing cutesy here though, she brought the siren back to red carpet style.

Also in Dior was Kalyani who did the ladies who lunch thing, in yellow no less. Charu and Priya did Stella and Lanvin respectively and boy did they do ’em well. Gayatri in Gucci and Sonam in Cue rounded off this list. Perfectly.

Chic is when a woman is in harmony with herself” says Giambattista Valli… No words have rung truer in the year Twenty Ten. And now, on to 2011. Salut!
