Sari Style

Sightings of Tabu are so few and far between that one almost always wants to give her a thumbs-up. Alas, ‘almost always’ being the operative words here.

While we do like the color on her, something about the sari reminds us of Vidya’s Ishqiya in-character sari.

  1. Oh, how could you compare her elegant look with Vidya’s tacky in-character appearance?! According to me, this tall gorgeous woman got it right this time.

    • I second that … other than just the color similarity they both are not even close to compare …. I looove the color of this sari …. vidya’s is so cheap …

  2. She looks good, I like the picture on the right. Strange but she is too covered up, would have been better if she had let the pallu fall.

  3. man you guys need to expand youre minds a wee bit when it comes to fashion. well styled doesnt always mean super-perfect-contrived-everything in place.

this is a perfectly lovely look. its a nice saree, and she looks glowing and natural and radiant.

i dont understand why you guys expect everyone to look like theyve had some elaborate styling process before going anywhere, in order to qualify as a not ‘almost’.

stop promoting such a rigid, limited view of style for heavens sake!

    • also, what is what all those awful comments about vidyas’ being a maid’s look (in a bad way). all you women think that only rich, english speaking urban indians can be stylish? is a western sensibility the only kind of acceptable style? how colonial!

bais and their sarees can be pretty and elegant and whatever else too. stop making style and beauty the domain of the privileged. ridiculous!

      • again, liking your comment ! I have noticed recently, that since i started visiting fashion blogs my sense of clothing seems to be just like the “rest of the world’s”. I dont wear crazy stuff i used which in a way is good but not totally.
I think we need a have a wider range of what is acceptable and stylish and get out of the western sensibilities of style like what you said

        • thats a pity kasthuri! its not really crazy at all. style on this website unfortunately means being dressed in this typical urban indian who has a wrath for indian-sensibilities way. even indian clothes that are not all sabyasachi or muted down are referred to as ‘tacky’ or ‘tacktastic’. its such rubbish. a style website doesnt need to be critical or nitpick. if you dont like it personally, dont put it up. theres no need to ridicule or make wrong someone’s taste.

the funny thing is that p and p, from their pictures seem like perfectly normal women. god knows why they set these ridiculous “oh but her hair is mehh” standards.

  4. so all yellow saris will remind everyone of vidya’s character ??? i think see rocks because it is her wearing the sari not the sari wearing her when it comes to Tabu……

  5. This is nowhere NEAR as bad as the ishqiya sari. I think she managed to pull off this very bold color because the print is delicate. The choli looks doubtful, however. Is it brick red? It should have been pink, like the trim, or yellow.
