In Stella McCartney

At the recent launch, it was a blue Resort Stella McCartney dress for designer Surily Goel. The woman sure loves her Stella!

Surily paired the dress with a BV knot clutch and some strappy heels. We thought she looked pretty darn good and that color is absolutely delish!

  1. It looks so much better on the model. The fabric, the fall of the dress & the stitching is quite different on her. Lack of good support for the girls is not helping the cause either.

    • True that!
this new wave of bollywood ladies- they think they will automatically become ‘fashion forward’ if they wear brands like stella and McQueen. Even though the dress might look horrible on them. perfect example is Rani Mukherjee. She made Alexander Wang look dowdy and sad!

    • Totally agree. It is more like Stella-inspired. Also, in typical P&P style, “”pulled back hair would’ve been great to show off the shoulder detail, the most interesting part of the dress”. Her limp hair kills the look for me,

  2. Stella or no Stella, the dress looks plain stupid. What’s the point of having a different length at the back, just looks like she wanted to make a train but ran out of cloth, yet decided to go with it.

  3. u guys are kidding right!!! Look at the HEMLNE it is all puckered & the width of the bows are also different in both the dresses..woman u need to hire a new tailor ASAP.

  4. for some reason, the two dresses look nothing alike…the hemline looks weird on surily…as does that shoulder detail…and the bust area looks odd.

u know, on a normal person, i would overlook everything because a normal person does not have access to stylists etc etc

  5. So if I ask my tailor to make a ditto of a Masaba dress(for instance), Can I say I’m wearing the label even if my version looks nothing like the designer’s in the context of finishing and overall look ? Quite an insult to Stella.

  6. No way is that a Stella. And you guys can see that, right???

The workmanship is pathetic…she obviously just got her tailors to knock it off.

  7. It is so very odd that of all the designers she can potentially knock off, she chooses to go with Stella (that dress is an obvious knock-off, the shoulder folds are completely off). Her personal design aesthetics are as far from Stella as can be.

  8. Considering Indian tailors have the highest quality of craftmanship…I always maintained some of the actresses/models/scoiclaties were wearing knockoffs made by their tailors but my comments long ago was gunned down….

Glad to see atleast one glaring example and affirmations from some readers finally!

At first I was too distracted by her expression to even notice the dress…..she does look like she is about to burst into tears any second….

  9. This is a simple enough design to copy. The dress on her does look off somehow. If I was a designer, I would wear my own most of the time.
Surily wears Stella, cuz her own clothes are such below standard.

I remember as a kid in India, I used to draw up designs inspired by movies, magazines and our local darzi made them for me, quite nicely actually. I wish I had such a darzi in NYC, I have so many crazy designs in my mind 😉
