Sari Style

With a bit of red or a whole lot, the ladies kept it festive at the Diwali parties they attended in their saris. And though very different from each other, it’s got to be asked… Between the Sabyasachi on Sunita, Payal Khandwala on Sona and Pria wearing one of her own designs, can you pick a favorite look?

P.S: Catch a full-length image of Ms. Mohapatra here.

  1. I love the saree sona is wearing because of the rich red color. Though I wouldn’t pair it with a shirt, sona seemed to pull it off. Pria no matter what she wears, always look tacky to me.

  2. Sona tries to hard to look quirky, it should come naturally.
Here it looks like a simple middleclass desi girl trying to hard to look like Kiran Rao.

    • What an odd comment
What on earth does someone do to look like Kiran Rao and how did she get a copyright on quirk
And pray please define ‘simple middle class girl’ to me…is that to imply that those with less money cannot in fact experiment
Sorry not trying to sound defensive or contentious

    • What is that even supposed to mean? Seriously I don’t get how some indians think. They see someone looking good desi and it is classified as “Royal” and then to put someone else down, it’s classified as middle class?

  3. Sona should have selected some other belt if she thought the saree needed one. This looks odd. The Sabya is something we have seen umpteen times, although it is draped very well. The red is not designer wear at all.

  5. I like Sona’s look because it’s something you wouldn’t see a lot of people trying. And yet, it looks good. She looks so happy in it, too. Pria is a plasticky doll and her designs are ALWAYS tacky, so nothing new there. Shibani sometimes gives cool looks, but this is just not it.
