Sari Style

At the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards held in Delhi, Sridevi won Entertainer of the Year and Kareena, Entertainer of the Decade. Kareena, didn’t surprise anyone in opting for favorite Manish Malhotra. The surprise though was the look. Didn’t quite expect an understated sari with a bindi and mogra from her at all. We quite like.

Sridevi, picked her other favorite, Sabyasachi. She looked good but it’s a look we’ve come to expect from her.

  1. I hate to say this, because Sridevi is usually drop dead gorgeous, but she looks bad here. I don’t get it. How is it possible for transparent fabric – regardless of how stunning it is – to look good on a blouse that is little more than a bra, and a satin underskirt? Who decided that sheer sarees are a good idea?

Kareena on the other hand looks fab.

  2. Had sri’s sari not been sheer the story would have been different…..the cheap net fabric is killing the look. Kareena looks a pretty picture.

  3. They both look gorgeous. Of course kareena being younger looks fresher but heck sridevi can give anyone a run or their money.
There’s something about an Indian outfit done right that showcases true Indian beauty.
    Is Vidya balan listening?

  4. Kareena almost always nails it. So appropriately dressed for every occasion. I’m glad she’s not giving in to pressure and turning to surgery like older but not wiser people. Speaking of which…

Sridevi is trying too hard to stay/look young. That sheer saree is just tacky.

  5. Sri’s sari looks like a MM and Kareena’s like a sabya.

The mogra in kareena’s hair for an award ceremony reminds me of sri’s appearance for padmasri award.

Sri should have opted for a different colored blouse or better still a different sari. like kareena’s look, simple & nice.

    • +1 …. a lot of MM’s clothes look like sabya’s these days, dont they? n i agree that the one on sri looks like an MM, probably the way its worn…less traditional, more modern.

  7. i think sridevi looks better. i love the fresh colours in her sari and she can carry off the transparent material. i don’t like kareena’s hairstyle. it looks too severe.

  8. Love Kareena’s look. She looks breathtaking.

Sridevi’s make-up is great – makes her look so young, but she should have chosen a full blouse, maybe like her black and white Sabya from a few days ago. The see through saree with a bra like blouse for somebody who is well endowed looks very tacky.

  9. Guess I am in a minority here, but to me, Kareena K’s sari looks like a table cloth. On the other hand, I think Sridevi’s sari is rather nice, and the color combination seems both interesting and unusual.

  10. Soooo gorgeous!!!! Kareena is a beauty….I can’t even look past her to look properly at Sri.

She is aging graceful n appropriately not getting insure n wearing hideous clothes to appear young.

  11. So many dignitaries present (business leaders, ministers) at the event and this is what Sri wears???? Why???? She comes across to me as desperate – it’s one thing wanting to look and dress chic but it’s another trying to expose yourself wearing such sheer clothes. Dress for the occasion – kudos to Kareena for doing that! Simple and graceful with the mogra adding such a nice Indian touch.
