In Manish Malhotra

Sridevi attended the premiere of the musical play Mughal-e-Azam on Friday evening wearing a floral Manish Malhotra long kurta suit. Considering many of you didn’t quite like the same style on Aishwarya recently, are you warming up to this cold-shoulder kurta on her?

She did look good though, no?

  1. P&P God knows how you could compare this outfit with the atrocity Aishwarya wore! This looks beautiful. The color combination in the kurta, the styling everything looks spot on!

  2. Shes looking more and more like nita ambani…the make up or styling or the eyebrows. Not sure if I liked this look
She looked gorgeous in her karva chauth red

  3. Aish’s was a size too small, and sridevi’s is just the right fit, hence the apparent major difference. It is a very minor, but important one, though!

  4. Sri only can make this dress look so nice.
props to her for maintaining herself so well and keeping with the latest trends instead of being stuck in some past era.

  5. An odd one out, imo, Sri tries too hard to fit into lastest trends (gowns and now cold shoulder). And that hand on waist pose is plain comical. I hardly find her graceful! Maybe, her neice can give her few lessons on how to keep it bling free and classy, specially when it comes to Indian wear!

    • That’s exactly how I feel when I see her always. I don’t find her graceful or classy. She has garish taste in clothes, piles on bling with too many OTT accessories. Always clad in heavy curtain like clothes. And more over she tries way too hard to fit in the younger category.

You should check out Amala Akkineni. You will love her style instantly as you love handloom. She is too classy and graceful for any film industry. She is the most beautiful woman alive for me.

      • Amala is a beautiful women and if she wears silk clothes it has to be ‘Ahimsa silk’, she is an animal activist. She’s a celebrity too but comparing her to Sridevi is like comparing oranges and apples. Sridevi has kept herself up to date in style sense even in movies from 70s through 90s. She wasvalways versatile in her roles, acting, makeup and dress sense. She’s a unique individual who isn’t afraid of experimenting with latest fashion trends. It’s very unfair to judge and expect someone to ‘look their age’ based on your definition of ‘age appropriate look’. If you notice Sridevi wears a lots of traditional sarees too and looks very traditional and beautiful.
People don’t mind when Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie wear fashion forward clothes, but the same when an Indian celebrity like sridevi wears, she’s judged.
Remember the moral of English Vinglish movie, not to be judgemental?

        • There is no comparison between Amala and Sridevi. Amala is in the league of Nandita Das. They both are class apart from filmy people. They don’t wear designer wear. They both wear handloom. Moni and me love handloom. So I was suggesting her to check out Amala’s style.

Coming to filmy people, I personally don’t like the dressing of Madhuri, Sridevi, Juhi, Kajol, Shilpa Shetty etc.

I like dressing modern. But I don’t find Sridevi modern. Sorry. If you look at Amala and Radha of South in 80s and 90s movies, they were very modern looking in Western wear and dressing way ahead of their time. I like that about them. Again that’s my personal opinion. Nothing to be taken seriously. If you notice or go to archives I never criticized or insulted the above ladies. I don’t come to this blog to insult people. I am a good person. I just wanted Moni to see a fabulous person like Amala in the midst of glitz and glamour. This is the first time I expressed my opinion on Sridevi. Cheers.

        • Completely agree Sri. There is No comparison. Sridevi is a legend. She could even rock the garish 80’s with her style. Be it “western” or desi , she rocked ’em all. Of course her body & gorgeous face aided it. One classic example is Vazhve Mayam of 80’s to her current appearance in a cold shoulder desi wear. She rocked even those very ordinary pavda dhavani & sarees in movies like 16 Vayathinile & Sigappu Rojakkal in the 70’s. Basic Cotton & sythentic saris in Varumaiyin Niram Sivapu .Glorious silks in Meendum Gokila. Shirt & basic skirts in Moonram Pirai (Sadma). Can write endlessly about her legendary career along with her fashion choices across many movie industries in several decades. Ha. Her experience in the movie industry(which includes fashion from many decades) is more than the age of most actresses in bollywood, kollywood, tollywood, malluwood including Amala. 😀

          • Yes face and body. I never found Sridevi’s face and body that appealing, so that is why she never blew my mind with her dressing. Even I can give many movie names where she looked so nice in silk sarees, chiffon sarees, churidars, langa oni (half saree) etc. Her Telugu movie Kshnana Kshanam by RGV, I find it best of her. Only people who know Telugu will know what a performance it was. Lucky they are. That’s one of my favourite movie. It’s a comedy movie. 😀

I find Amala extremely beautiful with a killer body in both both Bollywood and South combined. Plus she had a stylish dressing sense, so she blew my mind with every outfit she wore in movies and off screen. But then again I enjoy watching movies of EVERY actress from 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s till early 2000s both Bollywood and South combined. 😀 I don’t hate any of them. All of them were special individually beauty wise, dressing wise and acting wise.

  7. That is not a great dress – but again she does her magic. She looks better than most ppl would in that outfit. I definitely like this better than Aishwarya’s – mostly because of the softer colors.
