Mis-Match

Err, red and green when paired together are way too close to the christmas category for us, not always but then we’ve rarely ever seen ’em done well. The fabulous Sri was no exception. That shade of fire-engine red was just way too, too much for that shade of green.

P.S: On an aside, Payal and I are sneaking in a mini vacation before the Fashion Week starts so don’t be too worried if you see the rate at which we are posting go down just a tad bit… we will have our game on at the fashion week! 😉

  1. You know, I really beg to differ. I think she looks great. It may be Christmasy but she looks great. I actually love the shoes.

Why are her legs to weirdly pale – is that the effect of the pantyhose, or just lack of tanning?

    • i agree… she looks a bit chrissy but the whole look is so amazing on her. but thats coz she makes most things look great. and the legs look like lack of tanning … skin tone not matching the face…
enjoy your vacation girls… u deserve it!

  2. Have a great vacation, P & P. After posting that “awesome” pic of Hurley’s boobs, I think you deserve a vacation. Don’t remember laughing so hard. Your blog is addictive and I hope you’ll return with more great material.

  3. she looks nice, but should have worn same earrings and neck piece.
The red bag and pumps would have looked very nice on another color dress may be say light grey….

  4. i agree with you the color combination is a little too christmas-y

btw, looking forward to your coverage of fashion week! i think it’s something that’s missing, a nice coverage of fashion week on internet. it always seems so hard to find simple photos of the runway presentations…

  5. Oh please, she looks gorgeous as ever. The subtle makeup, hair all looks well put together. Agree d, the red is a little harsh with the green dress but she makes it work somehow.

    • i agree with u she makes it work. its not a perfect look but boy does she make it work. sri usually has a good sense of style n fashion but a stylist wudnt hurt….. it would only make her even more enviable :). love the shoes and the bag. she is definitely spearheading the cause of hot mommas in bollywoood. more power to her . amen .

  7. This shade of green looks good only in satin or in Kanchivaram or in anything but the above. The material her dress is made of looks awful in this color. The red bag is highlighting the ugliness of this dress…

  8. Yes, She looks gorgeous.Color combination is awesome,That shade of green is perfectly complimented by bright red.
Also Her necklace is bit X-massy (that jingles and red holly berries )..but still good.

  10. dont like.

moreover she sets the benchmark so high when she’s in saris… that no matter what else she wears or how well it will not measure up.

  11. Never Mind .She looks great. Its amazing to see her dress up this way when she was 80s and nineties generation of heavy jewellery and makeup!

  12. Honestly, I don’t think it’s so Christmassy. In a North American context, those colours clearly spell x-mas but in a desi context red and green is a classic combo (think Kanjeevaram saris).

The only think about Sri though, I think the woman’s glow and slight facial chubbiness from the 90s were so endearing and she’s gotten a bit too thin now. But other than that she looks really good.

    • Agreed! i totally like the combo…red and green are basic colors. she asks for interesting color combi as per her fav designer neeta lulla. she asks for silver grey, lime green and peach

  13. It IS christmas-y but she’s an icon so everything looks good on her. She actually makes the green and red work really well. It looks very cleverly put together despite the obvious christmas reference.

  14. They might be Manolo or Brian Atwood. Louboutin has a style similar called Madame Claud. It’s the same as a Very Prive but the platform is smaller.

  15. I love the dress and the necklace, but the bag with those shoes is just too much. She should have gone with a darker shade of red for the shoes, and a nude clutch. But for all the fashion mistakes we see on this site, this is relatively minor. 😀

  16. As much as I love Dior, Lady Dior bags are just not my thing. This one makes her look tacky. Had she stuck to just the red shoes, she would have looked FAB!

Red and green are complementary and work really well together. She played it up a bit by using both blue based greens and reds.

  17. I agree, especially with the necklace which could pass as an ornament.

Everything is beautiful, just not when paired together…if she had chosen a black dress she would have rocked it!
