In Sabyasachi
Soundarya, the younger daughter of Rajnikanth got married on Friday in Chennai to Ashwin Ramkumar. It was Kanjeevaram saris for the wedding ritual but for the the reception, the bride chose a nude pink Sabyasachi sari with the groom opting for a black suit. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Thanks to shyba for the news tip-off. Catch more pics of the wedding and receptions here and here.

Im not familiar with South Indian weddings so can someone please explain why the bride has 4 different bridal saris on? How many ceremonies were there? So confused.
During the ceremonies, in some wedding rituals, the bride has to change into different saris.
Tam Brahms change saris for almost every other procedure π In total, I wore about 9 saris over a span of two days. And its not because my parents threw money π but because of tradition. Every sari has a significance. Parents, maternal uncles, groom’s side – everyone gives a sari π
During most south indian weddings the bride comes in wearing a sari given by her parents and half way through the ceremony is presented by a sari from her inlaws which she goes and changes into
i think those are the green and the red saris
the pink kanjeevaram sari i assume she changed into post ceremony when greeting the guests – maybe it was lighter or easier to carry than the nine yard sari tied tamil style
(same way that the groom changed into a sherwani rather than dhoti and angavastram)
Tamil-brahmin brides change their saris 9 times!!!
Gorgeous couple & the Sabya saree looks awesome π
It would have been more beautiful if Aswin choosre to wear a Sabya creation…lovely couple …God Bless
She looks so beautiful in her wedding attire.
Her Sabya sari is very similar to the sari Aish wore at Cannes I guess!
Yes, the sari does remind me of Asha at the Cannes as well, though thank god Soundarya ditched the busy as bees blouse. Ashwin looks quite cute-in a chocolaty kind of way!
sorry not asha-that was aish.
Simple, classy and yet so beautiful. Totally love the bride’s look….and the fact that shes left her hair and makeup so simple.
although she looks gr8 and glowing in her kanjeevarams.. her reception outfit is looking a lil off.. mebbe its not too bridal enough 4 her own reception?
And completely in love with the kancheevarams…..
Sabya conquering South India too….More power to him
Extremely elegant! Love
Love the Sabya saree.. love the fact that shes not overloaded herself with jewellery. Love the pink Kancheevaram saree, the 2nd one is also nice … must say both have kept all looks understated and clean
Dang! its the shiny braids like border + velvet blouse sabya saree again!! nooooo!! but much much better dan the all out bling avatars we’ve seen in the name of ‘indian wedding’…but aaaah, the kanjeevarams, esp the green one, aaaaah i can weep for dem, so beautiful!
Personally i like the pink silk the best out of all her outfits – the groom is gorgeous!
I think we have similar taste in men-I second the grooms absolutely gorgeous!
I agree!!!!!! haha.. The boy is totally good looking!
to add to the fact that he is a stanford passed out….sigh! good looking and intelligent…alas taken! π
Love love her sarees!! Soundarya looks great in all of them, but the nine yards saree is the best! Nothing to beat Kancheevarams right? Please feature Sridevi from her reception!!!
congratulations to the happy couple
on an aside, have you guys got anything on the Lulu Guiness launch at Delhi mall?
They are a handsome couple. I like the reception sari.
first time that i have truly loved a sabyasachi
and i have to say – this is one beautiful couple!!
headlines today said it was a manish malhotra creation that she s wearing
She looks so gorgeous in the traditional Kancheepuram sarees, jewellery, etc. Perfect South Indian bride. The reception saree is nice but would not be my choice for a bride, although it is good she didn’t go overboard and still kept it classy. She looked just too beautiful during the ceremonies. I would suggest people go through those pictures, they are a perfect example of a wonderful Tamil Brahmin wedding.
Congratulations to the couple. They look so good together!!
One more entry, can’t seem to get enough of the wedding pics. There are better pictures of the bride at the reception where you can see her kundan necklace and earrings. She looks gorgeous, and so classy there too. P&P, update with pictures please.
yup,love her jewellery
happy looking couple.. the husband is quite good looking! this is similiar to the sabya ash wore at cannes..
Congratulations to the happy couple. They look so good together!!
such a cute couple! π
lovely dignified couple..bride is gorgeous!
gorgeous husband ! loving all the madisaar type sari (its supposed to be 9m long) and the dhoti !
God bless them both……….but I am loving the kanjiwarms rather than the Sabyasachi saree……..
just liked everything about this wedding! so simple and elegant!nothing OTT as would be the case with celebrity marriages!
This Sabya creation in a pink version is just like Aishwarya Rai’s olive Saree from Cannes 2010 premiere of Outrage – the red blouse and the border is also the same border from Aishwarya Rai’s saree she wore at the Raavan music launch. Mix n Match
lovely. simple and gorgeous! she totally looks like Madhuri Dixit in the 2nd pic.
Someone mentioned that she looks classy and I completely agree. All of her wedding looks are simply perfect. (Oh and the groom is well-dressed too! How common is that?!)
love the traditional sari’s … she’s got such a stunning face …. π and agree with the bloggers that whilst she looks gr8 at her reception, the Saby sari is not bridal…..and whilst i am a huge fan of Saby, this look is getting quiet jaded.
The grooms name is Ashwin RAMkumar not RAJkumar. π
They look great together. Soundarya is gorgeous!
Typical iyengar ponnu.
they both look sooooo cute together. and yes, south indian weddings when tastefully done, are a real delight !!!
congratulations to the couple. How goregous does the bride look π and my the groom is very cute!
both make such a cute couple ! π
Wish both a Very Happy Married Life !
The ladies are looking awesome in their Kanjeevarams !

wow thats a great compliment….
It’s ok ! π
i think she looks beautiful and the groom is very good looking. but i dont like any of the sarees she’s worn. neither the 9 yard (actually i dont like the 9 yard style – it always make you look a little bulky) – or the sabya/Mm whatever it is. but her make up is lovely and i like that she didnt go overboard on the jewellery like recent celebs have at their weddings.
the groom is drool-worthy.. gone alas !!
Lovely couple esp the groom. Yum and true alas, gone!
though the bride looks lovely in this saree, i personally don’t think it is reception worthy. She looks all to simple esp after her other wedding appearances which are perfect!! esp the pink saree! bride is gorgeous, wish she had played it up for the reception. Did I tell you the groom looks good? π
What a dull color for a bride to wear
