In Delpozo

Comment image 74

We got our wish! Wearing a Delpozo dress, Sonam attended the BoF soirée (which she co-hosted with Bandana Tewari). Baubles from Nirav Modi, a Judith Leiber clutch and Louis Vuitton sandals finished out her look.

If there was anyone who could wear this dress without entirely being overwhelmed in it, it was her. She looked great! (Just wish the make-up wasn’t so heavy-handed.)

P.S: Have some cash to burn? Score the dress here and, the clutch here.

  1. Sonam looks really good (although Kangana would have rocked this dress too). I love her shoes and clutch. Not too crazy about the make-up either.

  2. The white washed makeup and the school teacher bun aren’t selling this look to me. Definitely not her best outfit by any stretch of the imagination either. Overall, it’s a below average fare for me.

  3. If I had a lot of cash to burn that is still the last dress I would buy [plenty of handbags would happen with this kind of money]. It’s fugly and definitely not worth what it’s priced at. No where close!

  4. You guys (and the stylist) must be waaay ahead of time in terms of fashion (I’m not being sarcastic here) .
But I can talk about her makeup. Great skin, but it looks like the brows, the lips, and the blush were done by three different MUAs in parallel. But we all have our OTT makeup moments, don’t we? 🙂

  5. Something doesn’t go with the flow the dress was I itiallyintended to be . I personally feel there are many other people who can carry this off with great elegance – Lisa ,kangana , deepika ……. But the make up that is extremely distracting from the attire is a big spoiler … I m not sure about the top worn over white shirt . It just dsnt look fine somewhere

  6. Okay no seriously..how is a strapless bra over a stiff white shirt fashionable? Trust me I want to see what you guys see and appreciate it but i cantttt. HELP

  7. wtf! it looks like bra over the shirt …was that shirt required there at first place ? just the dress and good hair style would have been perfect

  8. That zoom in feature never works perfectly on Safari and so the first thing I zoomed in on was Sonam’s face, even though I wanted to view the dress better, but yiiiiikes – looks like she heaped on the makeup with a shovel…looks a fright!

    • Got a better glimpse of it now – that gaudy make up and the bra over white shirt look is too tacky for my taste. The one who could have actually made it work, and is usually tasteful with her make up, is Kangna Ranaut.

  9. As ridiculously expensive and couture as this dress is, am I the only one who thinks this is like the female version of Superman’s outfit? He wears his red undies outside and this, the black strapless bra/bandeau type contraption on the outside.
Maybe I don’t understand fashion, and in this case I’m not sure I want to.

  10. Seriously!? P&P you should have wished for better in that case!
This reminds me of a girlie version of a superhero like batman wearing his undies on the outside – Sonam is wearing her bra outside on her shirt! Oops.

  11. The dress by itself without the shirt would have been OK, ( maybe not for the event in Q) but ofcourse SK had to copy exactly the way it was styled on the runway!

  12. Perfect outfit for this event, i lust for the clutch! I agree on the makeup, the flashes make the heavy foundation look patchy & whiteish. :/
Could you guys pls post the runway look? It might helps some understand that it is a CUTOUT design & not a bra worn over a shirt. Sigh…

  13. Looks like the original dress comes without the shirt. Would it have been a fashion faux pas to wear it that way? Don’t think the shirt is adding anything to what could have been an edgy look.

    • I have seen it worn without shirt: Sonam´s choice is definitely visually more impactful.

It was presented on the runway with the shirt as a styling option: pic is on that website if you scroll down. The shirt is sold separately that is why it wasn´t included in the price. 🙂

  14. Give a sexy dress to sonam kapoor and be rest assured that she will change it into a drab, matronly affair! Hilary Swank looked ravishing in this dress when she wore! Ofcourse she had good sense, to wear it without a shirt..!!

    • Ha Ha Ha. Hillary Swank wore it and she was slammed for the fashion disaster and has been recommended by blogs to wear it with a shirt or shrug. Here Sonam wears shirt and she is slammed for that.

Anyways, I personally feel Sonam’s look is more impactful and edgy 🙂

  15. Sonam tries so hard to be fashion forward that she seems to deliberately pick out the most weird looking clothes she can get her hands on to show how *edgy* she is.

But this thing is disgusting. She looks like’s about to start dancing for a modern mariachi band.

  16. Is it the time of the week when Sonam-appreciation happens? No matter how ludicrous the look, she is given a thumbs up on this blog. Just becasue!

  17. Her make up is always bad. This is no different. Usually it is in grey patches, now it is complete white washed affair. The dress is ugly. No redemption for this look.

  18. grade school sewing project gone wrong. make up is chalky and the outfit, hideous. perhaps kangana, who seems to have a more natural flair for outre fashion and could have pulled it off better. sonam always looks like she’s trying way too hard.

  19. Dear Sonam, you often fail to impress because YOU TRY TOO HARD !!

One can question the notion of effortless dressing, but good style comes through in how effortlessly you put yourself together. So it’s result of choices that usually turn out right and good.

  20. Also I’d like to add, it’s about how quickly you pick out something to wear. Because you know what suits you, and you know what’s good and while aiming to go for a particular look befitting a particular occasion. That’s how stylists can make out that one good outfit from a rack of 20.

  21. I thought you guys said its not Sonam that you love, and that your bias is toward Anamika Khanna 🙂

I can understand that you will now say you have a bias for Delpozo as well, but that doesn’t justify saying that no one else could carry off this look! Kangana would have done this so much better – wearing the dress instead of it wearing her, and would have slathered on much less make up.

I don’t get Sonam’s obsession with trying to look like she’s made of milk. And I can’t cut you slack there.

  22. The way she’s worn it is bizarre – it’s like she put on the bra on top of the shirt. Why wear this if you need to cover up? Not that I have problems with personal flair, but this is just plain fugly. And the footwear reminds me of my comfy Easy Spirit sandals – so not appropriate for the occasion.

  23. Just no……sonam looks terrible……head to toe . The dress looks plain silly…..sandals look matronly…makeup is horrible (seems like her fake lashes are coming off) . The problem with her is she tries too hard….and it shows….

  24. The Sonam bashing is really getting a bit too much these days. And I really hate comparisons. Why can’t we appreciate a person for who they are?
Kangana is fabulous! But there is something called a personality and an aura. There are some looks that fit a person’s personality to the T.
For example, Sonam’s Anamika Khanna looks at Cannes are very ‘Sonam.’
And Kangana’s look at Rakesh Roshan’s birthday is very ‘Kangana!’ (See here: https://www.highheelconfidential.com/kangna-ranaut-in-gucci-at-rakesh-roshans-birthday-bash/ )

This look is very Sonam. Its preppy, its fun, its fashion forward.

Also, there has to be come credit given to even FINDING this look. There are too many Bollywood stars who go the easy route and dress up in Zara/Asos/ or even mainstream Dior/Gucci.
This is outside the box !

And how can you say ‘she tries too hard’ to someone who’s been dressing up fabulously from the beginning of her career?

    • noone is bashing Sonam, people are just critiquing her fashion sense which is the very purpose of this blog- to criticise one’s fashion outungs and at the same time highlight what works and what doesn’t.
as far as comparisons are concerned, I think it is very appropriate in this instance because 1) it helps to put a point across more easily and 2) aids in substantiating your opinion with some real life evidence.
you may wish to take the comments here with some salt in the future.

    • k=, you forget that Sonam is lucky to have access to these high-fashion outfits. It’s unfair of you to say that other actresses resort to Zara and Asos while she is being fashion forward. Not everyone can afford an $8000+ look.

      • +100 to violets comment. Although I love it when done people don’t go expensive but still have a style of their own like nayantara or kiran rao. They are in mid range brands often and look fab and more importantly unique.

  25. I think a year and half ago I had mentioned that PnP are partial towards Sonam and there was someone who was arguing abt it . Even PnP chose not the publish my comment and published comments against mine .I was neither offensive nor abusive but pro comments were only published. I was having a healthy discussion .I came back after a year and half later and nothing has changed still partial towards Sonam.
Healthy reminder this blog is no more what it used to be.

But that’s nt the point, she always tries toooo hard, hw old is she anyways?? She should learn a thing or more from shradha or kangna..!
