In Anavila

For her appearance at a recent launch, Sonam picked an Anavila sari to wear. Silver jewelry by Amrapali rounded out the actor’s look.

I do wish the pallu wasn’t draped so severely and/or narrowly. A more fluid drape and a wider pallu across the blouse would’ve made the look seem more relaxed, effortless and dare I add, youthful. It wasn’t a deal-breaker though; Sonam did look lovely!

  1. No, she didn’t. There is so much going on. the high neck blouse, the extra large jhumkis, the braids, the stripes and the print. She looks like a mannequin in a khadi gram udyog!

  2. This is how you kill an Anavila saree! She wants to glamorize everything! The blouse along with this palla, hairstyle and ear rings.. nothing is working!

  3. The high neck blouse isn’t the greatest choice for this saree, nevertheless, she looks lovely. I love all that jewelry, especially the bangles, because the saree is very simple. The hair is a bit much though…a simple bun would have sufficed.

  4. An Anavila sari demands a casual nonchalance , a sort of deliberate shabbiness that makes it modern and cool. By trying so hard with the look, she has completely killed the vibe .

  5. Not loving this. Too many distracting elements. As someone who evidently enjoys fashion, I feel Sonam should know better.

Not to throw shade or spark a debate- but I feel that on HHC pages, there is an added measure of meanness towards Sonam and and adoration towards Deepika while commenting on their style – both unwarranted at times. It takes away from what this website used to be, which was objective and mostly unbiased fashion commentary. Good fashion should be good fashion and bad styling should be bad styling regardless of our personal biases.
