On The Runway

Ms. Kapoor served as the showstopper for designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla on Friday evening at their bridal fashion show. While the chikankari work lehenga was exquisite, can’t say I liked the styling here. The necklace just seemed so disconnected with the overall look and I, for one, didn’t like the fishnet (Swarovski studded mind you) dupatta one bit.

Sonam did take the dupatta off for post-show interview but it didn’t improve the look by much. The victorian ruffle blouse just didn’t work.

P.S. Two bridal showstopper gigs in a year. Is Ms. Kapoor sending a hint?

  1. The lehenga is hideous. I don blame sonam at all but oh man that blouse looks really bad and overwhelms her completely. I hope no one chooses that for their wedding:/

  2. Kallerien, gajra, victorian sleeves blouse..all so messy! Outfit doesn’t look bridal even a a single bit, specially with kallerien on! I hail from the land of chikankari and this outfit is not at all ‘designer’!

  3. They have shamelessly copied her earlier fusion Ralph Russo fusion look with disastrous results. It’s an awful look . Bad make up and an ugly dress . The jewellery is an eyesore. Complete fail

  4. 1. I like Sonam’s look. It’s a Freida Kahlo- meets-Victorian affair, very mysterious and grand. I think this would be amazing on a magazine cover. Not every haute couture needs to be ‘wearable’.
    2. 2 bridal showstoppers… and? 99% of designers end their show with bridal. You’re showstopping as a bride without choice in incredible india.

  5. This outfit (Victorian ruffles) along with all the wedding jewellery (those dangling thingies) reminds me of those people who have bad taste and think of themselves as fashionable, fashion forward. They put together things and consider themselves ‘different’ but in reality are trying hard. Can see them on insta who call themselves ‘fashion influencers’, bloggers etc.

    • Nailed it. Wish I could mention few names 😉 There is one new Indian Chicago based blogger whose link I stumbled upon HHC only. The lady is Zara fanatic n wear mostly bodycons. She throws all jewellery together n call herself as ‘girl’ with great taste. Thats a different thing that neither she has a body nor a height for bodycons! Wel, there are several who think themselves as fashion gurus. These are self proclaimed fashionistas! N, let me mention this, that I am not shaming anyone or anyone’s body. No one is perfect! We are not in a glamour world where ‘picture perfect body’ is a need! My point is how people are becoming self-obsessed! They have zero clue about what suits their body but are so narcissistic in nature!

      • Agreed, Moni. Certain styles/silhouttes only suit specific body type. Those ones who wear bodycons without having the body for it just a laughing stock. Half of the “celebs” who are featured on Highheel is made of that. Not single clue on what suits them/their body type. Just wear whatever is in trend. And those ones also have a huge fan following since they do the same as well. 😀

  6. The whole attire is so hedious. Make up horrendous..!! Jewellery the less spoken about it the better. Sonam can carry off a lot of things but this is even beyond her capable hands.
