In Shantanu & Nikhil

Comment image 29

Wearing a red Shantanu & Nikhil, Sonam attended her upcoming movie’s trailer launch. A strong lip, matching uncut diamond jewelry and slick, straight hair worn centre-parted finished outer look.

Lehenga-inspired look it might be, but that’s just way too much midriff for us. Besides, pierced belly buttons/belly rings are a deal-breaker with us. We want to like this, we do. But, this one’s a clear miss to us!

  1. Her body has come a long way ( Ina good way) since I started reading this blog. Sorry. I know this isn’t a fitness forum but I check out bodies before I look at clothes.

  2. she looks ridiculous sucking in her breath in every photo to show a non existent tight muscle. Photo#4,6,7 are just out right hilarious. Was she like holding her breath the entire time?

    • then you should watch the video!! her body looks fantastic..man i know it takes a lot of hard work to get that flat stomach!! she is not sucking in her breath to show a non existent tight mucle! your comment made me laugh really hard!

      • Her body is definately fantastic.. but I do agree with lulu.. her expressions in every picture look like she’s sucked in her breath.. girl needs to breathe..

That aside this look does not work for me cos its in between a top is in between a lehenga blouse and a crop top.. hence it looks odd.. just like what P&P feel.. either top should have been longer or there should be a dupatta.

  3. Just something that I’ve noticed over the years here but it really hit me with this post: there’s no such thing as allowing people to have their personal style on this blog, not really. Wanting to get rid of the belly button piercing, no red tips for Sonakshi’s hair… everyone is goaded into certain packaged looks and this is passed off as critiquing their outfit.
I’m not a personal fan of belly button piercings either but I recognise that it shouldn’t really be a factor when discussing someone’s attire.

    • i completely agree.. P&P seem to want to compartmentalize every actress into the same mould that was made popular by Sonam. If they try to show their own style/ quirkyness, it always gets put down.

    • exactly…very well made point..anyone is opinionated to their own style and persona…so to mock or make a rude comment about someone just based on their dress is not just worth it..lol

    • Bingo!
There was something bothering me about both comments (sonajshi’s hair and the belly button jewelry) but I couldn’t put my finger on it
You’ve hit the nail on the head

    • Well, think about it – where can we find a blog/space where the critique is completely devoid of personal biases/subjectivity? Anyone writing on/critiquing fashion will have their opinion guided by their personal choices – maybe how they themselves dress/not dress, maybe the fashion houses/designers they shop at, and yes, very often maybe people they have a personal liking for and thus give them a wider pass. I say this knowing that I myself have called out P&P saying they have not been objective in some cases. But maybe to be truly objective it has to be a different platform and different stakes – like not in a personal blog like this one, but maybe if you’re making buying decisions for a designer house or at a trade show, you need to let business sense over rule personal bias. But otherwise, one will tend to judge others’ fashions with what’s most consistent with one’s own sensibility – so one might like the dress, but not that naval ring, or that gown but not that tattoo, or that sari but not the bustier that went with it and so on. That’s why, kudos to those celebs/anyone who continue to dress the way they want and actually have a personal style, irrespective of critiques and do not always try so hard just to get a thumb’s up or a fashionista tag from the hoi polloi.

    • Completely agree!!! let her have her belly ring… or a tattoo or two. it’s her individuality, it’s a memory of a random day or a random event that made her choose to get her navel pierced. how can you sit and question that memory? Come on P &P let loose and go get some body art your future selves might disapprove and focus on the outfits instead!!

  4. Sonam seems to be in a style crisis these days. This is the most random outfit for a trailer launch and she doesn’t look comfortable with all the stomach sucking in. Maybe she’s just tired with all the running around but she looks very aged here.

  5. Yeah this would not be my favorite. I think maybe Sonam has been hitting the gym a lot lately and this outfit is all about showing everyone that taut midriff (‘check out my abs bitches!’)

  6. “we want to like it …” but why???? whats there to like it?
Well for me never expected this look from Sonam.. she has a certain style and a space she owns well… not something which fits in there

  7. Loved it! I knew the belly ring was going to be a problem for you ladies! 😀
How can peeps miss the red a clear reference to her character marrying many times ovet in the movie? I thought it was a very nice touch. She looked really beautiful & in a great shap.

This is a 10 for me!

  8. There is not much that is wrong with that outfit but it is totally a ridiculous choice for a trailer launch. And yes, despite how taut her body looks here, I am pretty sure she had to suck her breath in throughout the photo session. Why would anyone put themselves through that ?
Sonam needs to take it easy.

  9. Sonam used to have a really good dressing sense once, but she seems to be trying very hard to look ‘hot’ these days. Unfortunately, it comes across as desperate.
