In Ralph & Russo

After attending the Ralph & Russo Fall 2016/2017 Couture show, Sonam attended a dinner hosted by the designers later in the evening. For the evening event, she picked an off-shoulder embellished silver dress pairing it with a silver clutch and grey flats.

While I loved the dress on her, despite the fact that it ain’t very photograph friendly, my issue with the look was with the hairdo. Felt too sister wife-ish.

  1. Hair is pretty terrible but I’m surprised at no calling out of the makeup
Her makeup artist often ages her. When she goes with a more fresh and light look she has a beautiful face. Makeup always ruins her natural charm

  2. SAME!! The hair (and the shoes) just brought the look down!…Not that I’m a huge fan of the dress to begin with but she could have rocked it.

  3. The hair looks like a throwback to the 1980s . What was she thinking ?
The dress also is lackluster . Just too dull and plain jane all round

  4. The hair and makeup are aging her a lot. I don’t mind the dress but I’m getting tired of so many Ralph&Russo appearances.

  5. Wow, so Sonam can look bad. Hair and make up both are really sad… definitely some back story here. Even the shoes are not nice. She doesn’t look so pleased herself.

I would have gone with a wine lip and the three strap Zanotti sandals and the hair in a soft retro updo.

  6. Good height, charming smile, pretty face and a hell lot of high fashion clothes…and she comes out like this with such bad hair and makeup making all those things pointless.

  7. I like the hair I think it blends in with the dress very 80’s 😉
    But I dislike the makeup
I wish she had gone natural with the makeup

  8. I like the dress and she looks good in it. Though its all matchy silver all around, it could have worked well if not for that weird hairdo.

  9. Don’t like anything. The dress is just ok and its a silhouette she has done many times before. The hair and make up are totally disastrous. And the shoes are pretty bad too. Sonam doesn’t have a good shoe game.

  10. Hey P&P,
I’m not sure what exactly you mean by ‘sister wife-ish’ but i strongly feel that one could use some creative language to put the point across and not stereotype certain groups of women in this way. Just a thought.

  11. I actually like the dress…shows off that tiny waist. I can see an attempt to create a vintage vibe (1950ish maybe) but it didn’t quite work because of the hair and make-up.

  12. How does a hairstyle become sister wifeish? Please explain.
And I am aware of the show.

    • Confused about the last part. Since when did Sonam Kapoor pretend to be a model? If anything, it is tsomething people who don´t like her & want to reduce her to her looks throw at her, as if it was an insult. & these people clearly have no clue about how much work goes into modelling, lol!

I agree that Jourdan Dunn chewed her up here. But again, not many (even models) can stand close to her lol. She is a supermodel for a reason. 😛

  13. Hey P&P, sister/wifeish? Thats an insult to sisters and wives. Hehehe. On a serious note, I thought that hairstyle is gone. If its making a comeback or its in fashion now, I am no fan. On top of that the garrish and tacky makeup is spoiling the otherwise pretty dress and the lovely lady wearing it.

    • No sister-wife is a term used to describe what two women call each other when they’re married to the same man. It’s a term from a reality show in the US. It’s not insulting to either sisters or wives lol

  14. Lol clearly someone didn´t want to attend the Gala, this one was a bust. + The chalky makeup artist strikes again!
The stylng of this one is quite poor. Sonam totally missed the hint of a rock vibe this 50 style of dress was screaming. She shoulld have styled it like on the runway if she had doubt. & dark edgy eyes would have made the contrast pop. A missed occasion. Shame

  15. How does someone so self aware and a self proclaimed “fashion icon” like Sonam have such poor makeup choices. This isn’t the first time her make up has let her down. Fashion is a culmination of makeup, hair, accessories and the dress. Unfortunately for Sonam, her make up is a huge let down quite often.
