Keeping It Simple
At a book launch today, Sonam kept it rather simple wearing a light brown kalidar anarkali with silver jootis and jhumkis. Not only did she have makeup issues but my bigger issue with this look is the color of the suit.
I associate this color with when something goes wrong with bodily-functions and this much of it only makes me think more of it.
Any other color and it would’ve been bearable. It’s probably obvious that I don’t like her suit or the overall look. Do you?

Agreed. Its super blah. And WHAT is up with her make up? She almost never gets it right. Such a beautiful face though.
Really?
I like her whole look. It’s very simple and understated as is the colour.
That ghastly make-up is not something one would expect from Sonam. It’s inexcusable.
Me like
Not feeling the make-up, but the outfit is quite nice.
It’s funny that she has that hand pose every time she does traditional.
+1!!!
I kinda like her in the suit. Her under eye concealer could do with better blending though!
The one time she dresses like a human being, you no likey ? You only like her in her star trek, wonder woman meets draupadi avatars ???
Your comment had me ROFLing!!
Nice shade throwing with the ‘you no likey’!
Absolutely agree!! For once she looks human and not some barbie doll with a 10 year old stylist – tent like capes , carpet coats and hitched up nighties. Its obvious the flash killed the make up. But then you cant have simple on anyone right pnp?
HA HA HA! Just too funny and true!
after those whats-got-into-her over-the-top appearances…this one is soothing to the eyes
Looks like she was coerced into attending this launch, and she went along without any interest; much like we go to the weddings our parents drag us to.
Lol this is a nice look! Minus the makeup..n I actually like that colour..
Colour kinda washes her out… and some concealing issues going on here… does she really have to wear those chappals everywhere
The problem here is not the suit but the makeup. She looks ashy and odd.
The question is when has she not had makeup issues? I have never seen her don proper makeup unless it is highly filtered insta pics. It is always ashy.
Whenever I see sonam, first thing I look at her is her face. She never gets her makeup right! I get surprized if she does…doesn’t she represent Loreal?
Whenever I see make-up tips from her MUA in magazines, I only think that she never gets it right on Sonam!
I agree with you,, MAke up is so bad! Suit color is so dull! Her Kachchi kali pose is funny too! Blah she looks!
She’s very pretty…but this is what I mean when I said she dresses older than her years…remember in that comment which you didn’t post? 🙂
@rr: ur comment had me ROFL!
Agreed! It’s not her best look. But what’s with the really bad metaphor P&P?
^^ +1.
Colour is quite normal/nice. What bodily functions i wonder!
I like the outfit – simple and lovely ! No like the makeup
I like! Very pretty. Makeup is an issue but I’m wanting to forget that here!
+1 the under eye concealer. .. blend blend blend!!!
its a book launch, she is in beige, looking simple and pretty and almost like she reads books – whats not to
like?
The suit is not that bad but her makeup and accessories are not good.
Looks better than the robe she wore in previous appearance.
What’s wrong with you gyals? The colour of the suit is fine and muted. Her make up issues are waaay bigger than your personal stereotypes!
The problem with this outfit, for me at least, is not the colour but the absence of it and of course, the makeup (is there a new trend in Bollywood, where the skin must look blotchy and dry, of which I am not aware?).
1) A dark green dupatta, green khussas and a higher hemline would have made a world of difference!
2) She has the right foundation but it has SPF in it which means there is flashback and the ‘lighter’ highlighter under the eye is a technique that really only works when a) the concealer’s undertone is a perfect match and one shade lighter and b) paired with contouring ala Kim Kardashian.
3) The earrings don’t work here either. Gold chand baalis would have been better suited.
Honestly, if the makeup had been a little bit better and with a different pair of shoes and earrings, this look would have been less of an eye sore!
I loved the outfit, not so much the makeup.
Her MUA prolly tries to match her face to her neck – which are usually off by a couple of shades for us Indians (maybe others too, not sure), causing her face to always look ashy. She should just stick to the shade closest to her face.
Also, that concealer is all sorts of wrong – my guess is that she has really bad undereye circles (which is ok, many of us in the subcontinent are born with hereditary dark circles). I think she needs to use an orange based corrector, followed by a concealer that is just one shade lighter than her foundation.
I know this seems like I spend my life analyzing her face and makeup, but truth is that I have the same problem!
