Keeping It Simple

At a book launch today, Sonam kept it rather simple wearing a light brown kalidar anarkali with silver jootis and jhumkis. Not only did she have makeup issues but my bigger issue with this look is the color of the suit.

I associate this color with when something goes wrong with bodily-functions and this much of it only makes me think more of it.

Any other color and it would’ve been bearable. It’s probably obvious that I don’t like her suit or the overall look. Do you?

  1. Looks like she was coerced into attending this launch, and she went along without any interest; much like we go to the weddings our parents drag us to.

  2. The question is when has she not had makeup issues? I have never seen her don proper makeup unless it is highly filtered insta pics. It is always ashy.

  3. Whenever I see sonam, first thing I look at her is her face. She never gets her makeup right! I get surprized if she does…doesn’t she represent Loreal?

  4. She’s very pretty…but this is what I mean when I said she dresses older than her years…remember in that comment which you didn’t post? 🙂

  5. What’s wrong with you gyals? The colour of the suit is fine and muted. Her make up issues are waaay bigger than your personal stereotypes!

  6. The problem with this outfit, for me at least, is not the colour but the absence of it and of course, the makeup (is there a new trend in Bollywood, where the skin must look blotchy and dry, of which I am not aware?).

    1) A dark green dupatta, green khussas and a higher hemline would have made a world of difference!

    2) She has the right foundation but it has SPF in it which means there is flashback and the ‘lighter’ highlighter under the eye is a technique that really only works when a) the concealer’s undertone is a perfect match and one shade lighter and b) paired with contouring ala Kim Kardashian.

    3) The earrings don’t work here either. Gold chand baalis would have been better suited.

Honestly, if the makeup had been a little bit better and with a different pair of shoes and earrings, this look would have been less of an eye sore!

  7. I loved the outfit, not so much the makeup.
Her MUA prolly tries to match her face to her neck – which are usually off by a couple of shades for us Indians (maybe others too, not sure), causing her face to always look ashy. She should just stick to the shade closest to her face.
Also, that concealer is all sorts of wrong – my guess is that she has really bad undereye circles (which is ok, many of us in the subcontinent are born with hereditary dark circles). I think she needs to use an orange based corrector, followed by a concealer that is just one shade lighter than her foundation.
I know this seems like I spend my life analyzing her face and makeup, but truth is that I have the same problem!
