In Yanina Couture

Wearing a creation from the Russian label, Yanina Couture, Sonam attended Manish Malhotra’s 50th birthday bash on Monday evening. The velvet black gown with its frilly sleeves providing the illusion of the skirt for the ballerina on the sleeve was just absolutely gorgeous. And Ms. Kapoor did complete justice to it by wearing it with the updo and red lip.

Made for a rather classic and elegant look. Love!

      • Just the dress. As Sue mentioned below ‘with a ballerina top-knot with diamond studs and winged eye-liner’ this look could’ve been Black Swan-ish. Yeah Natalie Portman was amazing in the movie.

  1. I’m loving the incredibly creative sleeve but why couldn’t she style it more youthfully! She does sleek ponytails so well and a pair of solitaires is all she’d have need to finish off the look. This vintage low bun with red lip is not working for me.

  2. Love the dress, but the hair, make-up and the diamond necklace belongs with another outfit. This look could have been a winner with a sleek pony tail or a ballerina top-knot with diamond studs and winged eye-liner.

  3. the dress is AH-MAZING. why dint she wear this for the recent awards?! wasted on a party. On the runway, you can see how the illusion neckline is supposed to look, she shouldnt have put on the necklace.

  4. As usual, she’s overdressed for the occassion. Hem should be sweeping the floor. This length with her toes peeking out makes it look like she’s wearing a glamourous nightie.

  5. The dancer’s arms embroidery looks like snakes slithering up her shoulders- at least in the front profile at first glance. Styling’s a complete let-down. It’s a b’day party- not a funeral.

    • Nobody goes to a funeral wearing a gown like this. Also it’s not a kids birthday party. She is dressed according to the theme of the party n looking amazing.

  6. Gorgeous. From head to toe. Love the outfit, the styling , the story.. everything’s working.

But I have to say, I’m getting tired of Sonam’s very correct & composed looks. Where’s the irreverence? I want her to show us a little bit of flair & whimsy, like she used to when she cared less.

  7. Interesting dress. Failed styling. A sleek ponytail, or the very least an updo that was softer and didn’t have a middle parting, a softer lip, and ear studs instead of that necklace. She comes across as trying to hard to be noticed, despite the dress. She should’ve let the dress talk. This isn’t working for me.
