In Twos
Promoting her upcoming movie at two recent events, Sonam gave us two appearances that had us go… We like! This is going to be a promotion tour to look forward to.
Both in the Shehlaa sari and the Sailex gown, Sonam works the soft, romantic vibe rather well. But it is her look in the sari that was an instant favorite. Love!

How ethereal she looks!! 10/10. If only she dressed something like that in Cannes. I think she and her stylists took the whole Cannes thingy too seriously.
Agreed! Indian celebs tend to over dress at Cannes. The white dress would have been perfect!
That saree reminds me of my school teachers – nothing wrong with it. Love it!
agree! she looks the best when she’s simply dressed.. wished she had worn the Sailex gown at Cannes the back has enough drama if she wanted drama.. so much better than her over thought out princess-y looks
she looks her best in saris.
Yep the saree is an instant favorite, she looks so elegant.
She looks lovely. Love the hair do in the gown look.
But is anyone else sick of the instagram pictures. I am starting to dislike them as much as photoshop now.
Unfortunately, only pics available sometimes are via Instagram and we’ve got to work with what we get! Like always, if we do come across better images, will update the post with them.
I can’t decide which look is better. Like both. She looks great.
wow..she looks so beautiful..she is has a beautiful smile n every hairstyle suits her!! i wish she dressed like this in Cannes!
I like the Hair n the blouse, But dont like the saree one bit. A different print perhaps
I second that. She looks less movie-star n more air hostess in the sari.
Not that theres anything bad in looking like the flight crew but I don’t think that’s wot she was going for.
This gal get it right almost all the time…loving both the looks..good going girl 🙂
Has she lost a ton of weight, she looks very very wee here.
Sari look is like the flight attendant uniform.
I didn’t even see this when I commented above. N these were my thots exactly.
she looks lovely!
quite excited about her and DP promotional tours for their respective flicks..have been missing them here for a while :).
She looks so beautiful in the saree..Don’t like the gown though..
Anybody else not okay with the pleats of the very pretty saree?
Love the dress & pretty sari, no doubts.
For those saying she should have worn these @cannes, sorry, but no. They maybe nice enough for the press interviews, but certainly not enough for any redcarpet appearances.
Cannes is all about over the top gowns, wellknown designers & if a star wants to be noticed, big designers it is. Unless you are part of the biggies´s team like Aish Nicole Kidman so forth.
both looks are so pretty!
Very very pretty. I love it when she embraces down to earth looks. Her charm takes center stage.
Are you serious about the like lon the Saree look?? The hair and makeup are good but the print is doing nothing…..
Ye gods! I agree! I thought I was the only one iffy about the lackluster saree!
I dislike the print on the sari. I am all for going retro, but I don’t think this particular print works. I also dislike the sleeves on the blouse.
She looks extremely elegant.. in both outfits.. there is some really good feeling when I see women is sarees and she amplifies it with this one… (not with Aishwarya’s recent choices).. I miss India and I miss getting to wear sarees.. 🙁
She looks particularly lovely in the sari!
she looks good in both! But she seems to be hell bent on promoting her friend Shehla who very apparently lacks much talent and originality. She makes such ordinary clothes and a tad bit old fashioned!!! Only way it gets a pass is if the wearer carries it off anyway! Also many of her pieces are a rip off. like the above saree is totally “inspired” by the bold floral print saree line Sabya had made. Remember Sridevi wearing a few in English Vinglish? Similar colors too! P&P, agree?
Love the gown..elegant and cute at the same time. which i didn’t think was possible
REALLY don’t like the sari – I’m all for throwback to an era bygone but the print is just way too much for me. Credit to her that she still makes it look good – but I really think the only reason the sari looks just about ok is the instagram filter. I can’t imagine those colors and print would look good in normal (or worse flash) lighting
But again – she herself looks good and the blouse is nice
she looks gorgeous and graceful in both pics.
Lovely in the sari and I think the traditional look is making a big comeback. Today we have access to designer wear everywhere, why mess with the sari? And a big thank you to air hostesses for wearing the sari well!
the saree reminds me retro heroines who wore (polyester?) sarees like these with big floral prints- think vidya sinha in chhoti si bast
the saree in the first look is so ordinary and downgrade. Only and only Sonam can carry such a saree with panache.2nd look is screaming for some colour.. But Sonam looks impeccable in both.
Saw the first look in a video and the second in some HQ photos…the second one fared wayy better. However, her makeup was too caked on in the second outfit.
The Saree looks like the many sarees my mom and aunts use to wear in 80s from Garden brand of sarees… There is a big diff between getting inspired by vintage clothing and reproducing it with a mordern edge vs. just copying it… If the same look was worn by some regular 20-30 yr old, you would assume she is wearing old hand-me downs from the past generation
Well said !! Fashion is heavily associated beyond reason to designers and brands.
Looks like I am in the minority, but I love the saree look. It’s elegant, simple and cheery.
