In Ralph & Russo

Wearing a custom Ralph and Russo tuxedo, Sonam walked the red carpet at Cannes on Tuesday evening. Emerald and diamond jewellery from Chopard and jewelled pumps from Jimmy Choo finished out her look.

Many of you asked to see a simple sleek look on the red carpet versus over the top gowns, and looks like you got what you wished for. As for me, I loved the look waist up. The pants, for a custom creation, still looked ill-fitted.

  1. This is as close to perfection as any look I have seen from her (and lbr in general). I had actually predicted this look (down to the jewels and makeup) with friends on Twitter a few days ago so I’m kicked that she tried a silhouette she has never done on the Cannes RC. It paid off.

  2. Creases aside … she looks stunning and finally her make up is on point !! Was it terrible all these years coz she was representing a make up brand ?? Coz this year she isn’t and her make up looks fab ! Those jewels are drool worthy!!

  3. She got the idea right but the execution is sloppy. The additional fabric is unnecessary. That train need to go. I keep going back to it but no woman has topped Evan Rachel Wood’s tuxedo from 2017 Golden Globes. I wish this had been a black tuxedo with a white shirt. But I guess Chopard wants all the focus on the jewelry and doesn’t care if the brand ambassador pales out. The entire focus is on the jewels. Disappointing.

  4. The extra fabric is totally unnecessary. Just the pant suit should have done the trick. The train has adds no aesthetic or functional value . The emeralds are beautiful and dress does a nice job of drawing attention to them.

  5. Loved it…simple and beautiful, that emarald pop of coloir is amazing.yes the focus goes on to those but isnt that the point of wearing such amazing jewels..those deserved a simple clean look…both the outfit and jewels work together well i think

  6. This is sooo good.. a suit on the carpets is just perfectly classsic. She looks boss here. A small change : the button should go bit higher, that cleavage definitely has no place here even if it’s to show off the neck piece. Also like someone said up, a black would have been perfect.

  7. Waist up she looks good. The bottom half is lacking in elegance somehow…. bit of a miss when you are aiming for a simple sleek look

    • You mean ‘andhon mein kana raja!’ Lets just go crazy if the rest were so bad. Yes it is a relief over other disasters but this really doesn’t stand out. The whole white suit/tux has been done to death.

  9. I love the idea of it, just wish it was better execution. The creases are unfortunate and I wish the fit of the trousers was better. But other than that she has my attention – I think its a fab look. And it’s unexpected from her on the Cannes’ red carpet.

  10. It’s a chic stunning look… a welcome relief from the bows, feathers, sparkles and what not everyone else wore. Her makeup , jewellery, everything is on point. Perfection top to toe

Black would have been run of the mill… white with that pearl and emerald jewellery… its stunning in its simplicity.

  11. i feel the cannes red carpet needs drama so it is good that this suit has a trail otherwise it would just look too plain

  12. Love this look, its edgy yet soft. Make up is so well done. Someone enlighten me was she dropped by L’oreal as ambassador ?

  13. It’s supremely ironic that her makeup has improved 100x AFTER she was dropped from L’oreal! What does it say about the quality of their makeup artists/products!?
Whoever her MUA currently is, she’s a keeper! hold on to her tight, Sonam!

  14. Well, at least this look fairs much better in comparison to the other monstrosities that we have seen at Cannes 2019. I would have preferred a much shorter ,structured , perhaps origami cut of coat tail. Like those old victorian frock coats but a modernised version of it. Jewels appear much but everything has been much and over the top. So my opinion, she looks great.

  15. She had me at that necklace…..her styling and make up elevated this look to a notch up. I didn’t care to look below waist.

  16. Such heavy emerald and diamond jewelry with tuxedo is definitely interesting combination to watch and white does complement this whole look,
but that train is so dramatic

  17. The overuse of extra fabric is a signature Kapoor Sisters look so they couldn’t avoid it. Wish the pants were not creased. Dont their stylists look at such minor details? Otherwise she looks lovely and the emeralds add a nice dramatic touch.

  18. This look is unexpected and I love the monotone, drawing all the focus to that magnificent necklace!
By far the best MUA at Cannes among the Bollywood set.
