In Proenza Schouler

After attending the press meet for Fight Hunger Foundation a few weeks ago, Sonam also attended the Gala dinner that evening and for the evening affair picked a Proenza Schouler dress.

Picking up on the black and white of the dress, she finished out her look with a two strap choker, black Manolo pumps and a Leiber bag.

While I liked the dress on her, the pumps felt a bit of a snooze here and am not sure if I did like the double choker. Did you love this look?

  1. I might be old fashioned but to an event like ‘Fight Hunger’ they have to fear such dresses like falling down..really. Does this outfit ( falling off the skin) giving any message to fight hunger… Also I think was she comfortable eating ‘gala dinner’ and did not have to worry about outfits falling down more than it is meant for… Anyways

    • +1 agree not event appropriate at all . I usually like what Sonam wears but she has no clue about just dressing like a normal person to charity events. Not every event has to be about being noticed as a fashionista.

    • This could have been a fundraising dinner event like the Amfar one in Cannes, where rich folks show up dressed in fancy dresses and write fat checks.

  2. I may sound out dated, but I just don’t understand what is the need to show your cleavage every time!! As always the poor babies are squished for space in the dress!

  3. Looks like she ran out of the house mid-way through stepping out of a dress. The dress with its collar drooping at the shoulder and that uneven awkward hemline is a monstrosity. Who can notice accessories with that dress around?

  4. You cannot get past that neckline. I have absolutely nothing against super duper plunging necklines. Whether it’s an A cup or a DD. But it has to look nice and fit wirh the rest of the outfit. But this just looks like the proportions are all wrong. The thick black straps and choker and black pumps look so stark against the rest. Not a nice look.

    • +1 Absolutely. No cleavage revealing dress looks good on her. I always wonder why is she known as fashionista of Bollywood. Neha Dhupia, Sophie, Karishma Kapoor they can carry any outfit with such an ease. She kind of tries too hard to look fashionista, which reflects on her face and body language.

  5. Though not appropriate for the event in question, I quite like this look. Sonam always offer something different to look up to (no pun)! For choker, its suits long and lean necks so obviously it is looking quite hot on her!

  6. Neck up- gorgeous, neck down -it’s a whole new story.. Hate that crochet dress and boob show in a hunger fight event? Oh common …please give us a break!

  7. I swear it looks like this dress was meant to be all buttoned up till the top. It seems they rolled over the top part of the dress to look like this. I don’t know what they were aiming for. Look at the length of those sleeves. If the shoulder sat where they were supposed to it would hv looked better.
She looks rediculous..! It’s a fail for me

    • That’s what I thought, but when I checked the designers catalog, it looks just like this…of course that model is skinnier so the boob show didn’t quite look as odd as it does here. It’s still a weird dress though!

  8. Thats a bad dress if that’s how it is supposed to be worn. If it is supposed to be worn as regular shirt dress, then I think it would look quite nice. Also, the dress worn that way looks quite inappropriate for the event she is attending. Not because of the cleavage, but because she has to worry about her dress slipping down. Quite a confounding look.

  9. She got back home to get into her Pyjamas, and while she was unbuttoning, she realised midway about this gala dinner she ought to attend, and rushed straight there ! That explains the dress !

  10. It a different style of dress, and she looks good in it. I like it that the styling is kept simple to align with the design of the dress. Now whether it is event-appropriate or not, is a different question, and considering that this is a fashion blog, perhaps not the best forum to discuss that here.

  12. No No just No. This is such a bad outfit and God,can Anna Wintour or someone just declare this choker trend to be over.? And doesn’t being a fashionista entail wearing clothes that are not just fashionable and trend-setting but event appropriate as well?! When did fashion icon equal to someone with no common sense/basic manners ?

  13. She should have atleast ditched the black choker , those diamonds are lovely. The addition of choker reminds me of a little rich puppy, who was dressed up and then the owner felt that “ohh no, my baby can’t go out without a collar “. I can’t even find appropriate words to write about how bad that dress looks. Even her smile is not helping here.
