In Itrh

Wearing Itrh‘s signature gold lehenga, Sonam attended the launch dinner of Bulgari’s new jewellery line in Abu Dhabi recently. The all-gold look was going to be quite hard to pull off and by refraining from adding a red lip, Sonam did good. Having said that though, wish she’d worn a glossy lip color. The brown felt a bit dull. To me, that is.

What say you?

  1. Doesn’t work at all. Monotone gold clashes with the jewelry hue. Since she is showcasing bulgari, it would have been better to keep that in the forefront and decide the clothes around it. Right now, she looks overwhelmed and the mashup of traditional Indian lehenga vs. contemporary accessory styling feels dissonant.

Malaika fared a whole lot better in Itrh a few days ago.

  2. I love the clothes, but the gold was not a good color combination with the necklace because the latter is a cooler tone. This would have looked absolutely fabulous with an emerald necklace (or if she went with navy/black/red for the clothes). Sort of a missed opportunity to let the jewelry stand out (esp. given the event).

  3. Don’t know what but make up around the eyes is a bit off. Even though it’s a gold coloured outfit with diamonds, it goes well together. I feel the only eyesore is the bag which stands out too much and not in a nice way.

  4. She looks gorgeous! I have seen diamonds worn with gold tone sarees a lot in South India and it doesn’t look odd at all. Same is the case here I guess.

  5. The sleeve is too long and spoils the deep neck and the symmetry associated with the top. It adds to a lot of the gold and takes away from the jewellery.
She has very dark circles me thinks and the eye make up is never able to cover it/fix it.

  6. I like the bring-back-the-glory-of-beautiful-breasts mission that Masaba/ Rhea and perhaps some more designers are on. After years of making west influenced flat chest synonymous with aspirational and model-esque looks, I think it is time we embraced the natural curvaceous breasts that a number of Indian women are bestowed with!

    • I am fine with any type of breasts, and cleavages are good but maybe if they are just that 🙂 It’s super weird to see make up and contouring done to bring attention to them, though! It’s really no different than the tiny bralettes or the one boob sari drape or the hardly there blouses that everyone scoffs about on these pages, all the time. I feel it takes away the attention from beautiful faces and clothes when all you can see is in-your-face made up girls!!

    • Her breasts are quite literally drawn on.. whatever sonam/rhea/masaba were thinking, I’m fairly certain it wasn’t altruistic in nature.

      • Haha @Safs and @Sj! I agree that the contouring is weird but I am tired of reading about breasts not being accepted in high fashion . And although Sonam/Masaba/ Rhea’s intent may not be altruistic, if the impact of it is more body positivity, I am all for it!

      • Her boobs, she can contour it however she uses, can’t she? I mean why does it have to be altruistic, maybe she wants to feel sexy, maybe they thought, it makes the blouse fit look better, is that a bad thing? Why is boob contouring still an issue or boobs such a huge talking point when its just a simple body part?

  7. Th eye makeup is shoddy. Instead of the ‘smoky eye’ look it was intended to be, this looks like eye makeup done by a teenager doing makeup for the first time. It is patchy and ages her and looks too harsh against the rest of the face.

  8. The dress and jewellery are individually good but as pointed out many ,doesn’t go well together. In fact for the event, this dress Is an overkill

  9. It looks like she left her head outside the dryer and put her whole body in and tossed around it for an hour, so crushed and wrinkly 🙁
