For her appearance at a press meet, Sonam picked a blush-nude Elie Saab Pre Fall 2015 dress. Wearing her hair swept to the side, she finished out the look with a strong red lip, jewelry from Anmol and Mahesh Notandass, an iridescent Thalé Blanc clutch and Christian Louboutin pumps.
Elie and Sonam have a good partnership, she being the perfect foil for his rather soft, feminine designs. And which is why, it makes perfect sense for her to have picked this imitation lace dress from the designer’s collection. However, the look didn’t quite make the impact she, or rather we were hoping. The obvious fault lies with the length of her dress which fell in the awkward neither quite here, nor quite there territory. Combine that with the heavy, wide hem of the dress and the issue with length was only further highlighted.

IShe had this ‘trying too hard’ phase. But this one is simple, sophisticated and I think she looks great.

I don’t think this gown needed anymore length. It’s already very voluminous and would have drowned her with full length. Just my opinion.

Sonam looks fab. I wish her lippy had been more pink red. I wish she wouldn’t be coy and hide her cleavage with her hair. I have noticed Bollywood ladies do that a lot. It ruins the dress. I love the length….I think it makes the dress interesting. Sonam has the height to carry off the difficult length.
Kangana is another lady who doesn’t play it safe and dares unusual lengths and silhouettes. I like that these ladies don’t play it safe and are adventurous with their fashion choices.
It’s a press meet, so it’s a good look as far as I’m concerned. I actually like the length…princess like. She looks pretty good i think

She wore a nude plain saree…I wonder what you guys have to say about the nude color after the comment you made on Sonam wearing the beige nude Kameez to a book launch or something.. i thought Kangana pulled the color off. But then again it was a funeral..

I agree with you guys here. The dress didn’t really leave an impact here. This look was more on the dull side if I must say.
It’s an odd length I agree. It should have been longer or shorter but overall she looks good here
IMO this dress should have been more like fit and flare dress with short length also that nude pumps making it look very mundane

I think the dress looks great the way it is – length and hem and all. SK wears it well. Like someone pointed out, the lipstick is an odd colour to wear with this dress, but something that can easily be overlooked.
The length of the dress and the shoe combination gives off a Disney Princess vibe.

i can’t believe the comments I’m reading about Elie Saab and Sonam making a “partnership” or “great team”, since when was Sonam his muse? Last year it was Sonam and Dolce and Gabbana and this year she is assaulting Elie Saab. Okay so this dress is way too tight around the bust giving it a corset from a period movie look which is not good unless you’re Kate Winslett. Look at the first and the fourth pics the tatas are about to squash her face. The dress is very intricate and I appreciate that however as PandP stated the cropped length makes it look like she’s wearing a frock she grew too big to wear. It should have been shorter or a cocktail length at this length it just looks odd.

She does looks lovely anyway, but the lower half is quite awkward. The hemming is really bad. The wide hem, with some sheer portion of top and again opacity due to some underskirt i guess, is odd. It should have just had a full length underskirt imo.
