Sonam At Cannes 2013: Jeune & Jolie Screening

In Dolce & Gabbana, Sonam Kapoor took to the red carpet on Day Two of Cannes. Her voluminous dress was complemented by printed pumps, glossy side-swept hair and a necklace by Sunita Kapoor.

A lot of you have longed for simpler hair and make-up on Sonam… This do it for ya? Relatively simpler it may have been but in that dress, the impact was anything but. We loved the drama of that floral print dress on the red carpet. She looked great!

  1. Finally an interesting Western look from Sonam. Lose the necklace though. Great choice of outfit. Still princessy, but that is her trademark and she finally does it well.

  2. She looks so gorgeous but she still failed to get that jaw dropping reaction from me!. Does anyone else feel that the necklace is a misfit?

  3. Simple and elegant – soooo much more easier on the eyes! She looks her age, young, fresh, and is smiling! You can see she is enjoying and is more comfortable in this appearance of hers.

    • The other appearance in saree, etc just overwhelmed her and the stoic expression only added to the stiffness. Moreover, she looked extremely overdone next to the other 3 Loreal ambassadors who were dressed in clean, simple dresses.

  4. HHC, I am addicted to your Cannes coverage. If your website goes down due to too much traffic, you can blame it all on my relentless clicking on the refresh button on my browser.

  5. She looks stunning. It has all the drama and glamor of a show stopper. I wish she would have skipped the necklace… but that is just being nitpicky. Also, she looks so much happier today and she looks like she is having fun… as if she knows she looks great. This is a complete home run.

  6. OMG!! love the look, soooo romantic and perfect.

Not always a Sonam fan, sometimes her choices are abit strange for my taste, but this is classic 🙂

  7. she looks pretty from neck up but that necklace is just an eyesore. sonam is so inconsistent in her choices of outfits and jewellery.

  8. this dress makes me want to fly to rome and flirt with gorgeous italian men (but i refuse to eat pasta, what with that waist this dress needs!)

one small complaint: i wish the dress grazed the floor!!! dolce and gabbana, please add five inches more.

  9. Love the dress! Has a very fairy tale-ish vibe. And very girly which goes with Sonam’s persona. The necklace she could do without.

  10. Wow! She is gorgeous. She looks good and she knows it. Her confident smile says it all..As far as the necklace goes, may be she trying to promote her mom’s jewelry line. Wasn’t the best piece for this look.

  11. How did she manage to sit in her chair in the theater? Oh,probably she just showed up for the red carpet show and left by the rear door right after, like many other starlettes. Pathetic… don’t like the lampshade dress anyway

  12. I realized what my problems with Sonam were, cause this was right above a picture of Deepika promoting YJHD:

    1. fakeness
    2. not pretty
    3. not classy enough.

If this is too catty for you to print, then so be it.

    • Ahh come on! I don’t understand these comments about “Fake”. We are talking about FASHION, of course, it will be fake. If everyone were to be “themselves”, we would all be walking around in sweat pants (at least, most of us).

      • Really? What’s so “victim-ish” about this dress? Damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t! She’s looking young, carefree, beautiful and happy- that’s what we all aspire to, right?

        • Actually, its not the dress at all. I think the dress is lovely. But just imagine if Deepika had worn it, it would be so effortless, plus Deepika never whitens herself with 3 shades lighter foundation. And she would certainly not let her “girls” be crunched in, in a dress that is a size too small.

Sonam is damned because everything she does looks like she is trying too freaking hard in a “look at me, look at me” sort of way.

Basically Sonam, is too much like her character in Ayesha! 🙂

Actually, bra top dresses are in fashion this summer.

  14. While i am on the fence about the dress, i know for sure i dislike that pose in ALL pictures. Its almost as if she is afraid she ll have a “muffin top” equivalent for arms (what is it called?).

  15. Am I looking at the same photos as everyone else? The skirt is reminiscent of curtains, the bodice way too tight. The necklace out of place and the shoes, well, a floral (?) mess.
I love this look neck up as she looks absolutely stunning. Hair and makeup done right! The dress, however, is “horrendous!”

  16. how can even breathe in it? i feel sorry for her twins..so tightly squished :(:( as everyone else pointed the dress need to sweep the ground..did anyone see a video of this?…i wanna ask if the dress was wobbling as she walked around 😀 .

  17. I think I’ve worked out whats wrong with Sonam’s looks the past year. Now shes been around a while with nothing in terms of work to show for it… shes beginning to just look like another social bee. When she gets a few hit films it’ll add substance to her red carpet roaming.
It’s the difference between a malika and a frida

  18. To begin with half these comments are done by her PR. such a busy non working actress ha ha ha. It’s true she is booked only for RC appearances.
I cannot imagine how many have loved this TEA CUP inverted…….. It only got noticed becoz it was so big and unnecessary

    • I guess Elle magazine is also on her payroll. She has been listed as one of the best dressed at the Cannes film festival. Also on many non indian fashion sites this very outfit has been voted as one of the most beautiful gowns.
