Promoting her upcoming movie on the sets of a television show, Sonam cut a pretty picture. It’s not a sari we can picture on many people but, Sonam definitely is on top of the list of people on whom we do see it on.

The look is soft, feminine and vintage-inspired… Right up her alley! She looked good.

  1. Perhaps it is just the pictures, but the eye makeup looks ashy and brings down the look. Would have preferred fresher makeup.

  2. The blouse looks more interesting and she should have a found a way to flaunt it.. Otherwise the entire look is just looks very Stewardessy to say the least…
P.S. NOM to anyone belonging to any profession…

  3. Sonam looks unbelievably beautiful in this sari. There are other pictures of her where her makeup doesn’t look so ashy. I absolutely love this look.

  4. Embroidery and sequins on this saree makes it look tacky….. Otherwise this saree would have worked , it does have this old world charm to it (narghis in 1950’s)…. This girl always wears too much makeup… She shud let her skin breathe

  5. Don’t like this look one bit. The sari is matronly and blouse doesn’t work. Also hate the pleats from where underneath blouse shows up 🙁
Hate the hair too. Why can’t she dress more like her age?

  6. Its a sari, that you just feel like saying something about.. The more I think I dislike it, the more I end up checking it out.. She definitely makes it work

  9. A part of me wishes that any time the word Aunty is used in the comments it automatically does not go through the filter of approval

It is horribly derogatory though I know the word itself isn’t

    It has become a default:
If blouse has longer sleeves (elbow and below) and the sari is draped the traditionally, there is at least one comment claiming Aunty. Whose Aunty? Are you a 5 year old? Get over it
On the flip side if the blouse has no sleeves and drape is off center, at least one person calls out “half boob show” which is so crass I’m sorry to say. We’ve moved into the 21st century and people drape saris in different ways so get over that too. And all the crap about ruining tradition – once upon a time tradition also had women only wearing the pallu on their heads

Sorry about the rant. These 2 comments always get to me

Anyway Sonam does look very pretty and while I wouldn’t pick that blouse she may have changed my mind

    • + 1/2. the aunty comment irks me not because of the word but because of using it for looks you described. The half boob show comment i totally approve of. In my view half boob shows just take away from the elegance of the garment eg. Amisha style.

    • and once upon a time the saree wasn’t supposed to have a blouse worn with it.
totally agree with your comment, Megha 🙂

  10. Sonam looks stunning!! The look is classy, elegant and at the same time edgy! Only Sonam can pull off this look effortlessly.

I saw better quality pics on other websites and then make up looked perfect there.

  11. Haha@ traditional saree. Actually the common women never even wore pallus once upon a time it seems. Such is the case in some parts of rural Kerala even today. Hah!

  12. yup, the whole look feels that way…. and the makeup looks over loaded…
Neither yay or nay…i like the way sonam styled the sari, but i don’t really like the sari itself. Not even Sonam can save this sari. The blouse. Fugly is a polite word.
