Sonam dressed up for two events this past week, first in a Shehla Khan lehenga for her godh bharai and then in a Kalamkari sari from Asha Gautam paired with a Baluchari fabric worn like a shawl from The Far East Studio.

The Baluchari and Kalamkari were beautiful. Can’t say the same for the Shehla lehenga. Let me re-iterate as some folks will misread, here I am talking about the lehenga itself. Not Sonam in it.

  1. Pairing that exquisite Baluchari with the Kalamkari saree makes zero sense — it’s like she couldn’t make up her mind what to wear and went with both.
As does that lehenga. I don’t mind the belly show — I get that she’s trying to vizibilize something here — but between the tiny choli and the voluminous skirt, it just throws off proportions.

  2. Love her in both, especially the first look gives a her highness kind of feel, the top is too snug or tiny in second look, I feel and kinda looks bare.

  3. Loved the kalamkari saree but *absolutely* dislike the unnecessary addition of the Baluchari shawl that looks so random and just spoils the exquisite saree. This whole “add a shawl to the saree” in an attempt to make it look different/ grand is such a ridiculously silly idea that someone brilliantly started, and at each time looks pointless and spoils both the saree and the shawl. There I had to vent but I bet a lot of folks feel this way.

The Sehla lehenga does not look nice at all…the color, style or drape. And continuing the styling to give an itsy bitsy blouse for a mom-to-be is an eyesore, and doesnt make any sense.

  4. The thoughts are pretty, but the jewelry in that kalamkari make her look like Nita Ambani
Is she wearing multiple sets on top of each other?

She looks like a five year-old wearing every beaded necklace she has in her toy closet

  5. That saree is gorgeous !! I dont think it needed the shawl or the necklace. Both take away from the Saree’s beauty. Hair and make up are gorgeous in the saree look. The lehnga looks inappropriate for the event..
