In Anuradha Vakil

After a slew of Dior dresses and Topshop looks, Ms. Kapoor changed it up on the sets of Chote Ustaad wearing an Anuradha Vakil lehenga in a half-sari style.

We are suckers for such color combos and by default, love it. (Who can forget the gorgeous Vakil designs in Sawaariya?) What about you?

P.S. Thanks to Sonam for confirming our suspicion that it was an Anuradha Vakil. “sonamakapoor: Yup.. You guys are good! Its a lehenga, where I’ve worn the dupatta south indian style, like a half sari..RT @HHCGuiltFree: Anuradha Vakil??? @sonamakapoor Its actually a lehenga!!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous color combo…odd way to wear it though. South indian half style saris are worn with distinct big border kanjivaram type saris.

    • Agreed gorgeous colours. Esp the duppatta and the blouse. Shoes look fine with it too.

But she totally killed the south indian style. Its so much more need and elegant. And its ALWAYS pleated !!! The shoulder pleats are like the essence of the south indian style half sari.

The hair could have been different.

    • Non-kanjeevaram half saris are becoming quite the vogue in south india now

Recently went to a south indian wedding where I saw at least 6-7 people wearing what looked like a lehenga worn half sari style

  2. the colors are beautiful, and she look so good neck up, the outfit is so weird and gaudy, and who wear flats with lehnga or sari or half of it ?

    • I agree…the outfit is borderline tacky. The colors are great, and I like her half-sari twist..refreshing. But the embellishment/print/whatever is just gaudy.
And yeah, the flats are kinda weird.

    • Those are jootis. Why wouldn’t you wear traditional indian shoes with a traditional indian outfit? I do it all the time and love it!! You don’t need heels to elongate your legs etc when they are covered, especially if you don’t need to add height.

  3. ai ai… its a beautiful dress but would have been good if it was tied as a half saree is normally is.. where the other end should come in front or if she had just kept it as a lehenga that wud have been gorgeous, now it is look awkward making sonam kapooor look broad(isnt she a size zero already, if it makes her look broad it….)

    • i know khussaz look decent with chooridar pajamas and even with jeans etc if part of an overall bohemian look. But here they are such an eyesore!

  4. I loooooooooooooove this 🙂 I think the color combination makes it a bit kitschy, which always gives a stylish edge to ethnic clothing. Lovely, she is owning it.

  5. P&P, When you have conversations with celebrities like the ones you have with Sonam on Twitter, isn’t it just a wee bit difficult to write something negative about a look of theirs? Just wondering…..
I do like Sonam in this outfit but the shoes look a bit odd.

      • I dunno if I’ve become blind, but I always notice that P n P never praise Sonam wholeheartedly EVER. Maybe it’s because all you people make them conscious and they just don’t express themselves like they should. 🙂

  6. That is one ugly lehenga! Her face looks radiant as ever, but altogether its a no no.
P.S – everytime she tweets back you’ll don’t have to like the outfit as a reflex 🙂

  7. Love the lehnga but the way she’s wrapped it, makes her look slightly fat… Would have prefered if she just drapped the chuni instead…

  8. i don’t love it, but she makes it look good and looks fine herself. if someone else was wearing it i may not have liked it, or even noticed it.

  10. Love it!! I like that she sprung a surprise after so many dresses. I was sure it was a lehenga as soon as I saw it, otherwise the saree pleats would have been oddly missing. And I guessed it was a Vakil too – PnP have been training us well!!

  11. Am the only one who thinks the way she pulled it off was actually a mess? Look at the midsection/midriff area…the lengha is not sitting well and scrunching below her belly button? and what about the pallu which doesn’t see to falling well either …it’s a complete disaster!
Pretty girl, in pretty colours but has it all wrong.

  12. Color i Loved [thts the good thing abt indian outfits ] but the way she wore it .Nooooooooooo . It looks either she borrowed it from someone just before the shoot or she just got up frm the bed and head to shoot .

  13. the looks is a perfect 10!! She is at ease with the dress, the shoes, the jewelery…she simply seems to be having fun and looks gorgeous doing so!!! I love how she can take a grand outfit and make it simple, easy and such a breeze to carry it off. (note the shoes…or the style of draping…or the minimal jewelery) she manages to keep it all together in her own perfect style. She is so close to being my most favored best dressed bollywood gal! and that smile is 100 megawatt dazzle! rock it, girl!

  14. love the whole look but i feel that the sheerness of the pallu is making the look a little odd…in a very messy way…something is off, can’t put my finger on it

  15. Love the color combination of this outfit although I don’t see any of the South Indian thing going on here. I think the colors look great on her.

  16. The outfit sure is tacky, but she manages to pull it off. Maybe the colors help redeem it. I do like how she changes it up. So, props for experimenting, for sure!

  18. Sonam can carry off anything just about anything. love the colors, the earrings, the jootis. But something is wrong with the lehnga its making her look podgy around the waist plus the lehnga should have had more flair given the fabric its falling like a skirt rather than lehnga. She would have looking absolutely stunning and elegant had she casually taken the duppatta over both her shoulders.
