In Two Avatars

While at the Maxim Hot 100 event, Sonam went western with a tinge of ethnic touch by way of a kundan necklace, at the Dance India Dance finale, it was an all-ethnic avatar in an Anamika Khanna sari.

Didn’t care the fusion look much but loved the sari appearance. You?

    • I think its the blouse, either the fitting is off or the material is inappropriate. Plus i find the magenta patti on the sari very jarring. either it should’ve been maroon to go with the blouse or better still totally absent.
I agree the western look is very chic.

      • I agree. I am missing the front pleats in the saree. I saw her on the actual TV event and it seemed like she was having difficulties walking without the pleats allowing for some walking space.

It was almost like a pencil shaped full length skirt with some extra cloth attached in one end.

Not elegant at all. But she is a pretty girl with an awesome figure.

    • Yup, the firts look is very disappointing.. she could have doen far better.. that beatiful necklace is an eyesore with that outfit.. which in itself is very meh and so are the shoes

      • Ethnic and traditional are almost synonyms, and the use of ethnic in this case was not insulting in anyway. It isnt like PnP were insutling Indian clothes or anything. Such unnecessary touchiness just shows cultural insecurity.

          • I said almost synonyms, in everyday language we use them to mean similiar things. You could whip out a dictionary and get technical on me, but that would be a bit inappropriate considering that this is a fun, caual blog that is is written in a casual style. Basically my point was that they were not being offensive so there was no reason to go all vocabulary nazi on them 😛 We all understood what they meant.

  1. P&P, I am lusting after the black lady dior tote Sonam carries often (also seen in Aisha). Could you please let me know where I can buy it at an affordable (or at a discount) price? Thanks so much.

  2. Both looks are good…. she is gifted with an electric smile…

HHC…!!! I might have missed it… but there was a mention of the Aisha ladies wearing Manish Arora on some big event… the International premier or something….. has it happened already… should we still wait for the pics…???

  3. i have never seen any actress in India, who enjoys dressing as much as she does. Good for her, on an aside I prefer the white dress, though her patli kamar looks great in the saree.

    • i think most girly girls enjoy. there must be other actresses who enjoy dressing up in India and who try their best to stay in the trend if u check out the history of what other actresses wore in this website. maybe she just appears to be having fun, or we find it fun to check out what she wears.

don’t like the white dress with that jewellery, although the jewellery alone is nice; like sari, maybe by Anuradha Vakil…??

    • dont care for the sari either..not a fan of the beige n maroon combo..p&p, shes done a photoshoot for a maxim recently, incredibly stunning stuff!!

    • Agree with @moonlight….major overdose of SK. That aside, I like her in the white dress. Something weird about that sari look..or maybe the way it’s draped.

    • nope you are not 🙂 I find the saree look kinda cheap (in not classy way) somehow, maybe its the drape, or the blouse or the whole combo of hair, blouse jewellery, drape.

I actually dont mind the other look.

      • Not really an overdose, I like to see what Sonam wears and she has given some really good looks suring Aisha promotions.

BUT both these looks are SO TACKY! Has she fallen down face first after all those Aisha promotions? The saree is very bad, not very classy and I dont like the no pleat concept! and Gasp! Thats a velvet blouse. I thought you HHC girls hate velvet in any form?

  4. both are bad looks! That neckpiece is an eyesore.. and that saree material looks like a mosquito net, draping is bad and I wont comment on the velvet blouse 😛

  5. I agree. the fusion is working, i love how she mixes up her look. The saree look is ok…it looks like the saree is not worn right. her smile is the perfect finishing touch! I agree, she enjoys dressing and is a joy to watch!

  6. I am experiencing what I call ‘Sonam Kapoor fatigue’. there have been just too many appearances by her recently in too many couture outfits. At first it was delightful, to watch her change one cute dress after another. Now it just feels too much. Okay girl we get it, you have the biggest, shiniest silver spoon in your mouth!
And BTW, she was not that good in Aisha, everyone else in he movie was pretty good.

      • i think her fans make it sound like she is the one and only precious thing, and i think that agitates the people who like her or don’t like her.

there is certain charm, innocence and honesty in her that makes me want to wish her well and protect her. it was when she first promoted her movie, which had nothing to do with this blog or fashion.

Am I the only one sensing a lot of Sonam envy on this blog? 😛
I dont particularly like this girl but Im tired of people picking on her and criticizing her.

  7. the sari look is such a messy one….looks like she just wrapped the sari around instead of actually draping it. Also now that Aisha is out, think we need a break from SK

  8. i actually quite like the necklace with the dress. And I am also gravitating towards the western look more than the appearance in that saree. Cant agree more with SS on this chain – the saree material does look similar to a mosquito net 🙂

  9. I like the white dress…and about the necklace, I’m not anti indo western or something but instead of those read beads (or whatever they are) she could have done better with white ones..or maybe even a pearl neck piece to go with it!

The saree’s good but I don’t like the way she’s worn it…I don’t like how the drape is tucked to the neck of her blouse…She could have taken it straight up giving it a neat finish!

  10. The necklace is gorgeous, but doesn’t go with the dress. She does look good, though.
I don’t like the saree look, but she sure looks happy in both pics.

  11. P&P,
how about a break from featuring Sonam Kapoor for a while?

The sun has decided to let go, leaves are turning colour,a season change is here.

Aisha has been sent to oblivion.

    P&P – yes, u can.. yes, u can

  12. don’t like the neck piece at all with the dress …… so many people have tried this before – wear a western outfit and wear some chunky Indian jewelery …….. and it always, always falls flat ….. i never thought sonam would try this as well

…… the saree’s draping is off ….. i saw the event …… it actually looked like a lehnga with the dupatta draped saree style …… no matter how badly it is draped, she looked positively radiant on the show …. you couldn’t take your eyes off her …. looked so very beautiful
