Sari Style

We got our first look at Masaba’s debut collection for Satya Paul today on Sonam, who wore a pink and gray lipstick print sari with a sleeveless gray blouse featuring a peter pan collar.

The Viange earrings didn’t quite go with the look but other than that, loved the sari. Can’t wait for the Satya Paul/Masaba show at WLIFW.

  1. Sari is amazing…its so satya paul+masaba…
super interesting blouse…not too quirky yet kinda fun…
but then its ruined by garish makeup…which makes her look like Simi grewal…
(Not that Simi G is not pretty, she is amazing, but if you look like 75 at the age of 25…go figure)

  2. I’m imagining this worn by a normal person worn anywhere – a dinner party, a cocktail function, a Sunday brunch and it’ll be bizarre and gimmicky anywhere. Terrible.

    • Absolutely right terrible sari design…that print actually brought to mind a certain part of the male anatomy! And to add to it looks like such cheap material. Those earrings look out of place. Sonam’s hair and neck up looks pretty but overall tacky outfit.

  3. A sari with a peter pan blouse! Why is this the first time I am seeing this happen, has no one thought of this before? Love the concept!

  4. Pink and grey is a lovely combination when done subtly and because of her height I guess the print isn’t overwhelming! Not too sure about the peter pan collar- gives a cutesy vibe. Maybe she shouldn’t have worn the earings or the lipstick cz her eyebrows and eyes are quite strong, but hey who am I to judge!

  5. It’s actually a VERY blah saree that wouldn’t even find a mention on this blog if it weren’t for the Masaba/Satya Paul connection. The Fabric looks very cheap and unflattering and Masaba’s graphics are slowly growing extremely insipid and uninspired.

    • ? its a normal crepe de chine.. I have never till date found anyissue at all in the quality of Satya Paul’s fabrics, their chiffons, cerpes, Georgettes are all great quality.. the pint/colour is a matter of individual taste

      • Really? You haven’t? Perhaps it is a matter of taste I agree, and maybe the feel of the saree will change my mind. However, I was talking about how it looks and to me it looks like any cheap chiffon material. And Satya Paul isn’t cheap, by any standards, so if I am paying an arm and a leg wouldn’t I want my saree to look and feel luxurious?

  6. Wow! Firstly, can’t believe it is a Masaba creation…..nice colors and fun print. Nobody can pull off this look other than Sonam. I agree on the earrings, she should have opted for a different kind.

  7. Hmm, not sure if its just me….but the lipstick print looks more like a condom ad, donno how Satya Paul couldve missed that angle, I definitely wont buy this print 🙁 moi, not a fan

But how well does Sonam carry the peter pan collared blouse!!!

  8. Ewwww! That saree is horrendous. The material, the print- it screams tacky to me. Sonam, by virtue of her looks and styling, pulls this off though.

  9. Is Masaba going to loose her unique, raw style? This looks very upmarket kitty party. Fabric is luxe, the look is chic, but did we need Masaba for this? And Sonam needs a little volume in her hair. This flat look does her no favours.

  10. Love the colors. Sonam looks great, make-up and hair are perfect. Lipstick print on the saree is a little disconcerting. But then, it could just be my dirty mind. Not a big fan of the collared blouse either.

  11. Sonam looks great as always. Well done Masaba! The lipstick print is not original, because few seasons back we saw the lipstick missile sandals at Prada. But I can already see the improvement in quality, and overall the print is fun. This is just a peek, if the prints and colours are going to be this fun, then Masaba and Satya Paul is a good marriage..partnership. Cheers!
