It was all-white or rather shades of white for Sonali who attended an Eid party on Wednesday evening. Loved that she brought the beautiful chikankari kurta and dupatta out again. The stark white churidaars though felt a bit jarring.

She wore the churidaar-kurta to a 2005 Omega event.

  1. that’s a kurti. it’s an odd length to wear with churidars, IMO, like it’s shrunk in the wash. if you *had* to wear it not with skinny jeans and the like, it needed a sharara or even dhoti pants.
add to that the mismatch between white and off-white.
    nah.

    • It was a trend in the early 2000s to wear short Kurtis. I have my old suits and thought I’d give it a spin and realised that the Kurtis back then we’re really short as opposed the almost kaftanish ones we wear today! I’m no angel to sustainable fashion but i really applaud people who are sustainable. I think being sustainable should be fashionable.

      • I am all for sustainability but She could have paired this with any other loose white bottom from her closet. It just doesn’t go with the churidar.

        • Yes, that’s what I’m saying! This clownish thing you see now was a trend back then. Short Kurtis and churidars were a huge thing!

  2. That was almost 17 years ago!!! The lady hasn’t changed much in all these years. yes, odd pairing with THAT bottom – but, a beautiful Kurta by itself.

  3. Each of the pieces is good including the shoes but together the whole ensemble is a little comical….. Reminds me of a clown for some reason.

  4. Short Kurtis with churidars were in vogue back then (a fashion that comes back every 10-15 years perhaps.. Saira Banu and Preity Zinta (from the late 90s-early 2000s comes to mind)…

  5. Pretty gal, with perfect make up! the Kurti is beautiful, the look would have been more enhanced with straight pants imo but this works too

  6. Should have gone with a pair of well stitched dhoti pants to bring the outfit to 2022. As is, it just reminded me of how much the 2000s fashion sucked! It is my least favorite decade in terms of fashion.
