Sonal wore a white organza sari from Baise Gaba featuring gota work on the sari and the blouse and while both the sari and blouse were were pretty, the drape here to show off the blouse confidering the sari already was sheer just brought down the look as a whole.

Here’s another priceless trick to butcher a perfectly fine look, just to “show off the blouse”. Bollywood should just start favouring blouses that won’t beg to be showcased.
It’s absolutely disgusting how Bollywood has degraded and cheapened the saree overall.
Why even have so much ugly art work in a blouse?
None of the so called “haute couture” blouses are even worthy of looking at
I think they should just ditch the saree and wear petticoat and blouse.
I wonder when the same hacks/designers will transform the men’s underwear? And we will see celebrity men with unzipped pants.

That said male genitalia is NOT equivalent of a woman’s breasts. A shirtless man is valid comparison, if you have to make one! Till Britishers came along with their Victorian sensibilities, women in so many parts of India did not even wear blouses or cover their breasts! it is not women’s fault that as a body part they have been hypersexualized. So, much so, that a mother cannot even breastfeed in peace in public without being dissed for it.
So, is the look, trashy – fashion wise, a hundred percent, but your constant moral judgement is beyond ridiculous and very very old. Sigh.

Nakedness on its own is hardly offensive. Where is live, ever summer solstice there is a naked bike parade. People of all genders, who wish to participate do. Some are completely naked, some paint their bodies to cover some of it etc etc. And you know what happens? NOTHING! People stand by the street sides and cheer them on!
Anything is as big or small a deal one wants to make it out to be. Society at some point taught us, shirtless men are okay, but women are not. What is the difference really? Just that one got hypersexualized?
Bodies are just bodies. It is really not a big deal. 🙂
As for trashy Bollywood movies, the industry has been making good and bad movies always and that is how it will continue to be. It is a business like any other. Do I wish there were more Main waapas aaunga than Dhurandhars, hell yeah! But that has nothing to do with constantly harping on about women needing to be ‘modest’ – whatever that means.

I’m so tired of these diatribes about how the saree should be worn, how the saree is disrespected (which is a laughable concept in itself), how “BW” is not modest, blah blah blah. I am fine with critiquing the fashion, but this kind of sartorial-fundamentalism is really boring
Lovely lady and rather lovely saree that looks completely trashy due to the drape. It takes special talent by the so called stylists and Bollywood ladies to end up looking trashy in ethereal sarees. She is fit/sexy, we know it. Doesn’t require this trashy drape to show us that she looks fit/sexy.
