Cover Wars!

The latest cover of Vogue India features a svelte Shilpa Shetty in a mini denim skirt. We couldn’t help but remember the Bipasha cover from a year ago after seeing the blue theme of the cover which begs the question, which cover do you like more?

i so loved bipasha in short hair. she looked chic and non filmy. she’s got the best collar bones and arms i’ve see in bollywood.

  2. None.. i think bipashas is much prettier and has much more potential that this cover..
i dont know im not really happy with the VOUGE covers in general…theres nothing special or different about them..same old boring stuff

the best vogue cover or shoot for me has to be Aishwarya Rai Bachchans..it was breathtaking..

  4. June 2009 cover looks like it belongs on a Men’s magazine…nope..not GQ or Vogue Homme…more like FHM and the likes….awful awful awful…

p.s. apparently airbrushing and photoshopping services come for free in India..

  5. Vogue shouldve done the “high street & denim” theme look edgier. For ex. Rihanna.
Vogue has now become awful after seeing this cover.
The waitresses of “Hooters” would wear this.
    :/

  6. OMG, what a terrible cover. The styling, the pose, its all so tacky. Her Grazia cover was soooooo much better. You’re right Joy, it does belong to a typical mens mag.

  7. Oooh look it’s Ms Shetty baring her body – again! – yawn.

I voted for Bips – cos the short hair suited her, the neutral makeup was flattering and this cover made her look feminine.

  8. i love shilpa’s cover all the way. shows her very comfortable with her body n its cool n fresh which i guess was the theme for the hot june. bipasha is lookin overdone like some cabaret dancer!

  9. I don’t agree with the line of thought that immediately judges midriff-baring as tacky; I actually think Shilpa looks great, and the overall aesthetic of the cover is sleek and appealing. It may not be high fashion, but I don’t think that’s the theme of the cover, is it? Anyhow,, even the international Vogue editions don’t really have path breaking covers, therefore it’s quite pointless to point fingers at Vogue India.

  10. So, just curious…do non stars/celebrities/actresses EVER get on the cover of these magazines? I remember this one time, looong long ago where maybe a model or an entrepreneur or someone with a great story to share used to be on these. But i could just be hallucinating, I mean *hah*, NO WAY could a mag not function with a Shilpa or Priyanka or Kareena on its cover!

  11. why does she always have to show off her body in photoshoots? yes she has the best body ever, but we all know that already. no need to be semi-naked on every cover. and yes, it doesn’t look like a vogue cover at all. more like the us rolling stone mag.

  12. Very tacky indeed….not Vogue at all. Bipasha on the other hand looks stunning and to this day, that was one cover that really moved me. It captured summer really well- even the photoshoot inside was breathtaking. Shilpa looks utterly Hooter-ish and frankly, I’ve never agreed with denim skirts! What’s more is that that cover is actually silver- it shines! That’s all there was left to degrade an already questionable cover. Somehow, it looks better in your picture!

  13. for a high fashion magazine, I find both covers disappointingly ordinary- the antiseptic blue & white theme, the totally uncreative clothes, the boring hair and make up…that said, both women look gorgeous

  14. I love Shilpa on the cover. I haven’t liked her in almost anything, but I must say I love it. The body language, the look, the attitude, clothes, accessory, colours, everything, it’s just right for the shoot. Keep it up Vogue India.

  15. definitely bipasha…she looks more edgy while shilpa looks too photoshopped…anyways, bips is much more of a stunner…right amount of attitude for a cover…

  16. lol they made the covers so white that for a moment I thought Bipasha’s boob is out and naked, by the way the wig Bipasha is wearing reminds me of wigs Missy Eliot wear, she kinda looks like missy eliot in this pic, Both pictures are white and silver washed out, very boring and pale no color or life in em

  17. Kimmy – I couldnt agree more..

As much as I love the celebrity issues… We definetly need people from other walks of life to be on the cover..

  18. let me start by saying i prefer shilpas becos the whole idea was summer, denim and high street.and if u think there was lots of photoshopping then watch the shoot video on u tube it was classyly done and she doent look much diffrent from the cover btw where can i buy this mag in the uk?

  19. @ keya – I totally agree with you! She ALWAYS has that stupid blank face..I think she’s trying to look sexy, but comes off as boring and predictable. I HATE how they photoshop covers to death, she looks so unreal!

@ Kimmy – I also agree with you! I’m getting tired of seeing the same old celebrity faces, there are sooo many better looking indian models out there who would look fierce on the cover!

BIPASHA hands down! Her hair looks fierce and I love that edgy eye makeup…she definitely knows how to change it up and still look great

Shilpa always has the same look, same hair, same midriff baring top…YAWN! She’s getting super boring for me. This cover does not belong on Vogue, it belongs on some men’s magazine

  20. Thing here is the sexy-ness of Bipasha is natural and her easy-going-ness comes through loud and very clearly,as for Ms. Shetty…too many trys to many times…It just doesn’t work…

  21. @ CocoNUT and others too:Vogue is no longer the symbol for the best, that depends on which edition we are talking about and the Indian Vogue signifies the meaning of complacency, baring some talented people who work there…

  22. for me Shilpa wins all the way anyday. Her beauty is her inner strength which shines through and through from her body language. Bipasha looks like a Rihanna wannabe. Get a life girl.

  23. i believe its shilpa’s fierce determination which shows in all her pics which some people assume as arrogance or same blank look.
