In Manish Malhotra
The Mijwan-Sonnets in Fabric is fundraiser show for Mijwan Welfare Society founded by the late Kaifi Azmi for the empowerment of the girl child in rural India.
This year Shabana Azmi paired up with designer Manish Malhotra and got the who’s who of Bollywood to walk for the show some of whom you’ll see below.
Coming back to Shabana, while I really liked the extended blouse that she sported with her Manish Malhotra sari, I just wish the sleeves weren’t brocade. The hair also was a downer.

after looking at the overdose of MM collections at mijwan show
i m done looking at people in MM clothes for life…..
“Coming back to Shabana, while I really liked the extended blouse that she sported with her Manish Malhotra sari, I just wish the sleeves weren’t brocade.”
i just wish shabana would have better taste.
Eeeevuuu at the hair!
Dont mind her outfit much. Considering it is an MM, it could have been much worse..
honestly, was there one decent piece at the show? i thought Shabana had good taste!
I quite like the colour contrast, but the long sleeved brocade blouse looks a bit odd, maybe with shorter sleeves it would have been fine? I don’t mean to sound ‘ageist’ but I think these MM sarees are more suited to younger girls, Shabana Azmi would look way more elegant in something more traditional or subdued.
Oh no…those are some horrid pictures…they make her (and Javed saab) look short and stocky.
Wish Shabana had gone easy on the makeup. Her powdery face and hair are really not working. Would have loved to see her in her hair loose or a loose bun at the nape. The brocade sleeves add to the bulk, she should have opted for a lighter, sheer fabric. Plus the purse adds to the kitsch overdose.
She looks TERRIBLE – from head to toe.
i have one word for shabanas look…overdone.
She is at a major event that she organized for her charitable foundation, and she’s one of the very few Bollywood celebs who has always worked for social betterment (in a country that desperately needs as many socially-minded people as possible). And by social betterment, I mean actually doing something worthwhile for a good cause, not just lending your name to an organization or taking a few pictures for PETA.
Even though this is a fashion blog, criticizng her appearance at such an event would be incredibly superficial. Kudos to you Shabana!
