Sari Style

Sayani opted for an Ekaya Benarasi sari to wear to the premiere of Article 15 and while I loved the sari itself and the jewellery, wasn’t a fan of that spaghetti strap blouse. Not one bit.

Was it a deal breaker for you as well?

  1. I agree.. while I love a sleeveless blouse with the traditional sarees, spaghetti strap blouse seem just outa place. With a heavy saree, you do need a blouse which can anchor/ compliment the whole look.

    • It’s sad when its such a fixable problem. Blotting sheets/matte make-up setting spray/water based foundation – so many solutions!!

  2. Unfortunately yes, I think a simple short sleeved blouse in the same colour as the body of the sari would have completed the look. Despite the ornate jewellery and the sari itself the first thing the eye is drawn to is the spaghetti top.

  3. I completely agree. Traditional sarees look ridiculous with spaghetti straps. Case in point, here it looks like a bra strap, which ruins the entire look of the saree. Also, I hate this overuse of highlighter that Sayani has going on all the time.

  4. Love the sari colour, and that’s where it stops! Don’t like the spaghetti blouse, or the jewellery overload. The hairstyle doesn’t suit her at all – and her skin is so shiny/oily.

  5. P and P relax your claws on the bikini blouse already…you guys have made your opinion known..but to me a bikini blouse worn well with an elegant saree looks great. It doesn’t have to be a traditional blouse every single time.

  6. Saree is too long for her or is shoddily draped. Blouse looks like a bra (not in a good way). Based on several of her appearances, she seems to have an oily skin problem (or she just is exceptionally poor at doing make up). Face looks 2 shades lighter than rest of body.

I stay in the USA, just came back from a relatives wedding in India. I have to say, the average Indian woman (no stylist or designer wear) fares much-much-better or atleast-as-good at Indian fashion than several celebrities featured on your blog. Does it mean that most stylists in India are so bad that it’s better to not have one?

  7. Silk with such chunky jewellery is looking overwhelming on her petite frame. Makeup issue is constant in her case. A neat drape with short sleeves blouse minus long necklace n open hair would have looked nice.
