In Falguni and Shane Peacock
Sarah was spotted shooting for And Just Like That in NYC wearing an embroidered lehenga by Falguni and Shane Peacock complete with flowers in her braid and a black embroidered potli. Am so very curious now as to if there is an Indian wedding/party plot in the upcoming series considering Sarita Choudhury is also part of the cast. We’ll just have to wait a few more months.
As for the look, I wish she’d added some color on the lips and not added all those flowers on the maang as well.
What did you think of this look?

Lehanga is gorgeous, but her hairdo makes her look very cruel? If I can say that… not a good look
Yes, she looks cold. My first thought when I saw this was ‘my, what happened to her, she aged overnight’. Not that aging is bad, she just looks way older than she currently looks.
I really hope our Bolly brigade doesn’t blindly copy the side juda+ maang tikka and whatever that was going on with Sarah’s hair!! Lehenga is to die for though !!
Don’t worry they absolutely will
The lehenga is beautiful and no respectable fashion lover can say a mean thing about SJP, but the two do not belong together, especially not with that hairdo that’s too severe for her high cheekbones. The stylist should have let Carrie be Carrie or done something like a Neetu Kapoor style salwar suit with hair down.
Totally agree, the lehenga itself is gorgeous, but those flowers on the maang makes her look comical!
Love the clothes!
Looks homeless.. idk if hw celebs love mocking Indian outfits, why would you do giant flowers like a mang tika? Looks funny. Also look is totally in bad taste. No Dupatta, no make up, more like costume.
Looks terrible.. so shabby and worn (styled) with little attention to detail..
That lehenga is really gorgeous but SJP looks awful sorry to say. For someone who built her on screen career primarily on fashion and style, you would think her team would at least not make her look caricature-ish.
Right! Caricature it is
The hairstyle is just terrible. But SJP tends to go ott sometimes when it comes to fashion.
love the lehnga! face up, she’s too stark.. needs inspiration from BW- hair do, lip colour etc. and yes lose the flowers
No.
This look does not flatter her.
If anything its doing the absolute opposite.
More than the lip colour a light smile would’ve elevate the look, even if just for the photo ops
Love the lehenga! the hair is very questionable!
The lehenga is beautiful but clearly someone with no Indian design sensibilities designed that head full of flowers! Along with the severe hair and expression, the look is totally ruined 🙁
I find this an interesting look for an editorial. Agree with lipstick for some colour.
If this look is for a tv show, curious to know the plot behind the look. Hence, it would not make sense to have a strong opinion on the styling, want to give some benefit of doubt to the stylist. From what I see, I like the skirt.
Plot: someone took a crack at her n replaced her gowns with this and ran away, she had no clue how to dress into these Indian skirt and blouse and had to head out immediately.
🙂 Plot 2: A white hippie is joyously giddy when an Indian friend invites her to a wedding, and piles on every “New Age” element she can lay her hands on. Also, she does yoga and says “Namastay” a lot.
😛
THE PLOT. SPOILERS. random but skip if you don’t want it
Basically she goes to her Indian friend’s parents house for diwali. Indian friend being Sarita Chaudury (Kamasutra fame). Hence the dress up. They reached to many Indian designers to send their clothes. I guess peacocks was selected.
Actually, the outfit was bought from AVE India Design Collective store in NYC is what I have been told.
Oh no. Those flowers on her head. Completely ruins the looks. She looks good neck down.
Imagine if white people started complaining about every time a Bollywood celeb wore a gown sari or polki jewellery with a suit? Fashion is fun. Everyone is allowed to put their own spin on it. SJP is not playing a Bollywood celeb or an Indian woman. Her character is a white fashion-obsessed New Yorker (probably) going to a south asian event. It wouldn’t be Carrie if it wasn’t over the top.
Valid point!
Fully agree with this.. if its not OTT.. it snot Carrie. even if its weird..Carrie will add her touch to an outfit! we are very used to seeing Indian outfits in certain way. see it with ‘Carrie Bradsahw’ eyes!
That analogy doesn’t fit for a couple of reasons. For one, you’re ignoring India’s colonial history, and how suits and gowns became part of Indian attire to begin with. Two, SJP isn’t fusing two cultures here – she took her vague understanding of Indian attire and ran with it — those flowers look ridiculous and reduced the lehenga into a costume. That’s what crossed the line into cultural appropriation.
Really! India where we have amalgamation of cultures throughout time
Pakistani women routinely wear flower maang teekas for mehendi ceremony. Google it. It’s not a costume.
Looks like a fusion of Indian + Frida Kahlo Style
The hair is absolutely ridiculous and clownish.
It looks very harsh and cold for some reason – doesn’t work here.
May have worked better in an editorial.
That’s the “Carrie Bradshaw” we know. For crying out loud, she put a dead bird on her head for her wedding!
She’s not carrying it with the grace and elegance it deserves. I do hope it’s for a shoot in the movie and not a random gimmicky magazine shoot because that would just be appropriation if she’s wearing it as a costume
Indian Marie Antoinette look ! She does look spine chillingly cold and ruthless here.
The whole effect is cartoonish. If I were the designer, I would not want my name mentioned with this look.
