At the Ambani Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Sara was seen in a lehenga from Mayyur Girotra made from several vintage saris that the latter collected over the years. While I applaud the upcycling effort and Sara looked lovely here, I really hope Ms. Khan or some one else gets more mileage out of this effort. Although I have a bad feeling, neither will happen.

I have a feeling it would have served the sustainability cause better had the sarees just been left as sarees. A saree stays on for decades, and can be used multiple times given its timeless beauty and versatility. This lehenga, meanwhile, is hardly likely to have any life beyond its one outing. Such ‘upcycling’ seems more about making a statement than actually promoting a cause.

Agree with you but wondering if the vintage sarees were damaged and the good parts of it was salvaged to create this peice

Several sarees gone to waste. Would have been heirloom as is. From previous similar sightings on Sonam and Priyanka we have not seen them rewear or reimagine those outfits.
Looks like more so for an item song release function than a formal event as this where some appropriateness in dress sense would be more respectful.
The colors are pretty but my comment will end there!!
