Reception Style: Part Deux

It was a Shantanu-Nikhil lehenga with a Dior clutch for the new bride Sania at the Sialkot reception while husband Shoaib wore a white sherwani. Finally, a look that I love, clutch and all. 😉

  1. In comparison to the other wedding attires this lehenga works on her. But what’s with her petrified look in all the pics save the second one.:-P

  2. He looks alright-don’t really dig his sherwani but it’s passable but don’t like her look AT ALL (save the brickbats – I know she is the bride and all but this being a fashion blog I am allowed). No part of it actually. The lehenga, the makeup-all look plain bad. Oh and the lipstick – no!!!

  3. Why is her make up always so sharp and loud? A little but of subtlety would have made this so dignified..the blood red lips are so garish..

    • Usually even I don’t like loud lip color but I love the red lips here…..

They would have looked garish were they not matching so well with her dress

  4. Me likes, I notice velvet but still me likes Sania’s outfit; Shoaib’s not so much, for me paisleys don’t work on men. Love the mosaic clutch. Congratulations to the couple once again!

  5. She is looking so very lovely but so very tense !

Relax honey.. I know you are in your sasural but no need to be so apprehensive.

Love the gajara in her hair…so feminine.

I feel her maang Tikka is too low.

  6. finally she steps up her game, (pun not intended), outfit is nice and she looks like a bride however the make up is ott and very dated.

  7. out of all of her outfits at her wedding..i think she looks the best here. I dont dig the lehenga but somehow its working. Actually really like the red lips..really suiting her.
The groom looks quite nice as well.

  8. hmmm. is it only me or has anyone else noticed that shoaib looks sheepish and sania defiant in most photos. Also, i know there is no warmth in their body language, no closeness, they almost always form a V between them.
having said that, how lovely does she look in this attire, I dig the blood red lipstick. Wish shoaib had worn a deeper color sherwani to look richer, and go better with sania’s outfit.

    • Yeah, it’s quite obvious. But maybe it’s their culture/religious thing? Since i know that the bride and groom are most part separate during the actual ceremony.

  9. none ever seems to mention it, but shoaib is quite a handsome man too!
    they make a beautiful couple.
well turned out too, for the event!

  10. The last-but-one pearl / bead from the left side of her maang tika seems to have fallen off. And the two peals / beads on top are making think of ETs and aliens…

  11. Noo.. Why the garish make-up?! The lehenga’s pretty, her hair-style is lovely, but the make-up does her in. Both she and Shoaib look so UPSET!

  12. love the outfit, but whts with her expressions??? bride is supposed to look soft n demure, she looks v agressive like she’s getting ready for another round of match

  13. The outfit is gorgeous and she looks very pretty – wish she’d gone with a subtler lipstick and a smokier eye but thats about it.

    • just wanted to add, I can’t understand why she doesn’t wear a matching set of jewelery. Its like the earrings are obviously different to the necklace – i havn’t really liked her jewellery choices throughout this wedding. The tikkas fine – I’ve seen some other websites making such a big deal about the fact that shes wearing the same tikka throughout. Its really not such a big deal guys! Hyderabadi brides are often gifted 1 tikka by their parents or grooms side and wear it throughout their weddings as after all its not really a piece of jewellery you get to wear much afterwards. Agreed with all her money she might have gone for something bigger but app. its her mums so she probabley passed it on to her.

      • You know, contrary to whatever we may think, she doesn’t come from a really super rich family that she can get 5 different sets of jewellery for every occasion. She is like us average Indians- use mom’s, borrow, mix- and-match… We can’t judge everyone by a Bollywood yardstick.
She was an average tennis player, who didn’t win many international tournaments, so no $$s there, plus she isn’t a (male) cricketer who seem to be the only sportspeople in India to earn scads of money!

  14. agreed, maang tika couldve been a notch higher. this is the only wedding outfit i’ve approved of, so far on Sania. just wish the make-up was classier. wouldve been perfect then. and really, they were mobbed? on the streets or a hotel? that’s quite bizarre and very scary! poor girl…

  15. Nice, she looks lovely. Love the gajra. I am sure she wanted to burst in tears after all the harrasment.

I still like the khada dupatta outfit of the Hyderabad reception, it was so different (for me atleast) and traditional.

  16. I still think she looked the best during her last angagement with the other guy, it was beautiful, different and she looked great. But this one is better than the rest of her outfits out of her wedding.

  17. I think they both look great. It’s a shame their party was mobbed! In the second pic, Sania’s eyes are actually a little red-rimmed, maybe she was reduced to tears by the mob?
Pity, cos the couple look lovely here! Their best appearance yet!

  18. Not digging this at all….no need to mention that apart from both looking so tense, I don’t see any closeness or warmth between them. That tikka looks like a big pearl spider on her forehead and the garish makeup makes her look a tad masculine and weird.

  19. She looks lovely but i am not crazy about the clothes or jewelry as the style is very similar to the other 3 functions. I wish she had opted for Lahori designers such as Niki n Nina, HSY, Karma OR chinyere couture. They would given her a different look, by using more modern cuts, probably chiffon as the base fabric and less heavy embroidery, which would’ve been a nice change. WHHHY is shoaib wearing such weird feminine outfits??

    • I agree.I would like to add Bunto and Dr.Haroon to the list. They would definitely have brought out the classiness which is sadly lacking.I think shes trying to make the statement that shes going to stay true to her roots.Well by all means stay true just don’t expect us to be remain complacent about it.I am getting sick of seeing that tikka she wore it on her nikah, wedding and walima.Geez lady give it a rest!

  20. She looks great here. the clothes, make up (despite the red) is really working.
Did anyone else notice the missing pearl in the maang tikka? and why is that she’s wearing kundan earrings, pearl tikka, and some other stones in her necklace? non-matching jewellery for wedding – is it some trend I’m missing?

  21. What’s up with wearing same tikka at every function? Even on her engagement with other guy she wore the same tikka :/
Otherwise, I think she looks gorgeous and I LOVE her lehngha!!! Very nice (:

  22. Hyderabadi brides (and pakistani as well) usually wear dark green at their receptions, but I guess Sania chose a different route.

I think this is the best appearance out of all events for this wedding. She looks lovely. Shoaib could have chosen a bold colour, he has almost always appeared in white and light colors.

    • Check your facts dude. I have yet to see a Pakistani bride in dark green at the walima iin my lifetime. The basic rule of the thumb is to wear red/maroon/fuschia or any bright shade on the barat and a lighter more pastel shade on the walima like peach, pink, turquoise, lilac or gold. This seems to be the norm these days at least. Dark/emerald green for walima was in vogue some 30 odd years ago (my mother wore one on hers) but the trend has yet to make a comeback.

  23. The only thing I admire about Sania Mirza in general is that she looks like a normal bride, I mean honestly in this day and age, celebrity brides are so in your face with the armor type jewelry and the 20Kg wedding outfits.
Sania has all the money in the world and could have dressed the same as Shilpa or Ash, but she chose to stick with her family heirlooms, and her mom’s wedding sari.
    Hats off to her!! 🙂

  24. she looks beautiful here…but due to the kind of eye makeup…speacially the silver shade towards the inner side, her eyes look far apart….making her eyes look a bit unatural.
