While promoting her movie, Samantha was seen wearing saris from a yellow sari from Tilfi and a chintz printed one from Torani and looking lovely in both. Have a preference?
She looks lovely in both. I’d wear both looks in a heartbeat – yellow to a more formal occasion though. White one is such a beautiful “day wear” saree.
I am an avid fan of Tilfi- one of the few houses where their weavers are salaried and gets a lot of healthcare and education benefits- hence they can retain weavers through generations. But – off late – TILFI is probably trying to compete for Bollywood favored brands and their designs have become very limited.
my other technical pet peeve- like this yellow saree- Tilfi and many others are likely using jamdani motifs and weaving it on the jacquard as opposed to shuttle – how jamdani is traditionally made. I think some traditional weaves should keep the authenticity of the technique and not just the pattern.
needle (traditional) jamdani is a laborious and expensive process. jacquard makes the work easier, less expensive and therefore more accessible — which is essential if handloom is to surivive.
that said, while a big brand name like tilfi may also use jacquard, their prices still continue to be premium. i hope they’re upfront about the craft they use with customers.

She looks resplendent!!! Major love on both
Lovely looks both
lovely, nothing to fault. especially like the fact that they aren’t pressed and pleated and pinned to within an inch of their lives.
A++ for pallu drape. She looks oh so sweet!

Thank you for the details on the brand, will definitely check them out.
