LFW Winter/Festive 2011: Sabyasachi

If you’re following us on Twitter, you already know how much of a dillemma we are in! Buy gold or buy a Sabyasachi? Until mommy dearest knocks us in our head, we’re putting away money in the bank to buy the latter for now. 😛

He made us fall in love with velvet and we didn’t even think that was possible. How delish are those velvet saris. Sigh.

We do have a complain though! It was bad enough that we were saving up to buy for ourselves. Now, we have to add a fund for the better halves and the children too! We are going to be broke pretty soon!

P.S. We love love love a Sabya show. It is not a catwalk. It is a theatrical presentation. Models don’t strut. They walk slowly and let you take in slowly the gorgeous creations as they walk by because you need that extra moment after being taken aback by the sheer beauty at the first sight! Catch the video at Lakme Fashion Week TV here!

  2. Nah! I’m not too excited about the collection!

The velvet saris you are gushing about looks like a curtain or bedsheet draped on….and I’m actually one of those who loves a touch of velvet in my Indian clothes….makes me feel regal!

  6. Love him or loathe him, one can’t deny that the man has vision and knows craftsmanship and how to put on a show. I am in the “love” camp, and I adore this collection, especially the Arab-ish influence.

  7. nah, he started good a few years back but has a feeling of sa,e ol oflate

was definitely not impressed. I think you are drooling more over the sabya label than the actual creation itself thats miles away from his former self

  8. i would wear everything in the second row, the rest of it – not so much. the velvet saris are stupid, especially in our kind of climate. the look is very derivative of the “thakur bari’ look, and is not very interesting if you are a bong who is well versed in tagore.

  9. Loved the pieces in the second row…. the others I will give a miss… the presentation was awesome, but the pieces are “just okay” from a designer like him
