Rimi Nayak, Debarun Mukherjee: LFW Summer/Resort 2010
Drawing inspiration from the ‘Sailor’ isn’t something new… sadly neither was Rimi Nayak’s execution of it.
Her collection ‘Azure Amour’ that drew upon the theme of the ‘sailor’ and ‘his sweetheart’ saw of lot of blues and whites naturally, with looks that ranged from heavily nautical to Grecian silhouettes. Some of the pieces were interesting but it mostly left us wishing for a fresher take on a ‘done-that’ theme.

With an inspiration like ‘chanachur or Bombay Mix’, a mixture (snack) popular in Kolkatta, our interest in the collection was piqued. But what came out of Debarun Mukherjee’s collection called “Miracle Mix” was one big disappointment. The color palette was mostly a mix of rusts, browns, mustards and burnt oranges and the silhouettes seemed rather uninspired. The embellishments and embroidery just seemed so dated. Perhaps the only thing interesting about this showing was the goody bag with the mixture packet. Yum.
I was waiting for Rimi to come on HHC … she probably is one of the youngest fashion designers around :). Way to go girl !!
not meaning to be picky but it’s Kolkata without the extra t. that apart didn’t like either collection.
