In Jason Wu

Ms. Chopra picked a one-shouldered Jason Wu gown to wear to the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards finishing it out with a sleek side-parted ponytail.

Doing red on the red carpet has its pros and cons, the latter being that sometimes the gown may blend into the carpet. In this case, it kind of did but Ms. Chopra still looked so good that we are voting Red Hot! on this one.

You?

  1. I wish she had a more relaxed hairstyle. But apart from that she looks smashing. The red makes her complexion look irresistible. She looks so feminine and eye catching. She’s on almost every single international best dressed list! Woo-hoo!

      • That’s actually not true.
She’s doing great, but definitely not the first Indian person, and is yet to ‘make it’.
She’s definitely the only one with such an awesome PR firm.. And seriously, I don’t mean to take away any credit from her. Just stating facts coz people seem to be seriously unaware of well-placed Indians in Hollywood.

I mean if you look at Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Arun Nayyar, Kal Penn and others, they are way more widely known and popular.
And that’s just actors (and some writers). You have filmmakers like Mira Nair, Gurinder Chaddha, even M Night Shyamalan who definitely made their mark at different times.
It’s just factually incorrect to say she’s the first Indian to do so.

        • Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling and Kal Penn are Americans and Arun Nayar is a Brit. I think many know these. But Priyanka Chopra is Indian. She went there from India. I think everybody is saying that as an accomplishment. But Irfan Khan is more successful than Priyanka among Indians. And he is very talented. I don’t think Priyanka is talented at all. What Melange is talking about is regarding actors I think, not directors.

          • Yes, that’s exactly what I meant.
She’s the first to do a very specific thing – an Indian actor to lead a TV show. And while that’s a huge accomplishment, it’s not extensible to first Indian to have made it in Hollywood.
And honestly, she’s yet to have made it. It takes a highly skillful PR team to have her so visible, which is something she can afford. Case in point Irrfan Khan (can’t believe I missed him ! ) – he’s been part of many million and billion $ movies, but can’t be seen outside of movies.
Also, while I do think she’s highly talented, Quantico hardly taps that. It’s more cheese and sleaze than acting or skill. Baywatch won’t be any different. I much prefer her acting in Bollywood!

          • Sup, yes if we take acting in lead role as consideration, I think Freida Pinto acted as a lead in many British and American movies. She is far more successful than Aishwarya, Priyanka and Deepika. But Freida does not have super star looks just like Alia and Bhumi. If we compare Irrfan and Priyanka, Priyanka is desperate to get into Hollywood and she is giving herself a lot of publicity. Where as Irrfan never tried for Hollywood, he just got offers purely based on his extraordinary talent. He even rejected an important role in Martian. He doesn’t give himself publicity even in Hollywood or Bollywood. Preity Zinta rejected the offers she got from Hollywood because she preferred to be a top actress in Bollywood than doing small roles in Hollywood. Yesteryear actress Madhubala got good offers from Hollywood but I think her family didn’t let her take it because at that time they were more conservative. If she had been in Hollywood she would be on par with Vivien Leigh and Grace Kelly in terms of beauty, talent and grace. It would be so good.

  2. the dress is great and she def pulled it off really well but i was kinda hoping for a more edgy hard-hitting look. And this was a very similar hairstyle as the oscars:/ its so flat and boring. the dress needed more imo

  3. Wowzer!
Hats off on going with red, stand out. PCs hair is in focus a lot, kind of glad that she is going with hair styles that compliment the overall look. Proud of her, she is on every single best dressed list.

  4. Edgy and she stands out! If she went with the soft do and big earrings, it would be same old… this is refreshing and she certainly takes it up a notch!

  5. Fabulous and yes the color does suit her. Most importantly, she was clearly enjoying wearing the gown and the drama that it allowed. I think when you are so enjoying being in your own skin, half the battle is won. My only issue, the hair but its a minor one.
