Sheesh..

Here is a pic of Karisma Kapoor and her Gucci Horsebit Hobo. It saddens me when I see celebrities like her who have so much money (or atleast HAD) buy a logo covered bag. As if that was not enough, they buy one that is made of canvas! That is such a big DON’T. If you are going to be spending all that money and get a super expensive bag, why not just go ahead and spend a little bit more and get a good leather one. Ugghhh…

Now that I have picked on her so much, I better back it up with an alternative! Check out this delicious chocolate color Guccissima Hobo. As much as “logo overdose” is a crime, this bag is far more subtle and much more classy because of the leather, and not to mention.. yummy! Screams ‘Gucci’ and still is timeless and subtle.

Kundan Jewelry

I am in love with “Kundan”. And No Kundan ain’t a guy and neither is Kundan a girl!
(I had to clarify! What if mom and dad are reading!)

“Kundan” is a form of gem setting with pure gold. The purest and softest form of gold (24K) is hammered into sheets and mounted around stones to encase them. I didn’t know this, but because the stones are encased, light strikes the stones only from above which actually gives them the dull look versus a shiny one.

Seeing the Jodhaa-Akbar poster reminded me of this classic and timeless style of jewelry. Now, what Ash is wearing probably runs into lakhs and crores of rupees, but since I don’t have that much money, I am going to have to find pieces that are much cheaper but that still maintain the essence. I searched far and wide, high and low all over the world (on the internet of course!) and finally came up with some reallly cute pieces that I am thinking of buying.

These cute bangles are very reminiscent of the Kundan design with the red and green stones that almost look like precious rubies and emeralds. You might think that these might run upto more than a thousand dollars, but they are only $34 for the pair.

Check out this uber cool Kundan cocktail ring for only $15!

I have never seen Kundan anklets before but am totally loving the idea. These would be great to wear with skirts or capris. You could probably even wear these on one hand and make a great chunky bracelet out of em!

An…d for the grand finale.. I cannot end this post and not have a pair of earrings.
This simple chandelier style earrings with golden beads are just too delicious for only $32.

Brand Ambassador, Jia Khan

Source

Jia Khan has been signed on as the Brand Ambassador for Campus Awards 2007, a first of its kind, initiative from Bharatstudent.com and thats a picture of Jiah Khan in Mumbai to unveil the logo! And now that we have the small talk out of the way, lets talk fashion.

Big hair? Check. Strange shade of neon pink lipstick? Check. Does it match the neon pink lights on the stage? Check. Matching nailpaint? Check. A zipper running the entire length of the dress? Check. Cowboy boots? Check. Black stockings? Check.

A passport to time travel? Check.

And I thought we were done with the Eighties! Disgusting.

Falguni and Shane Peacock’s 2008 Collection

Source

Thats Sameera Reddy, flanked by models on either side, in Mumbai at the preview of fashion designers Falguni and Shane Peacock’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection and in one of their outfits!

I don’t care for the actual outfit that Sameera is wearing but what the other two models are wearing looks really interesting! If these pieces are anything to go by, the collection definitely looks promising and I’d love to look at more pieces from the collection…

When Fendi Does Fugly!

Buy Via Saks

Thats the Fendi Leopard Small Palazzo Bag priced at $1990! Its like one of their infamous bucket bags and has a leopard print and logo canvas lining! And it gets better, no worse, it is a goat hair bag, with leather accents and twisted handles! Eecks! It has a drawstring closure, and if only they threw in a safe and a key to lock in the monstrosity, wouldn’t it make a perfect buy?

What could be wrong with the bag below, I wonder? Is it the technicolor palette? Is it the clear sequins? Or the logos all over the place? Did I mention, all over? Is it the red piping? I wonder what about this Fendi Forever Sequined Borsa bag priced at $760, qualifies it as ‘fugly’! Oh, how I wonder! (Sheesh!)

You seriously aren’t wondering why The Fendi Large Sequin Spy Bag made the list, are you? But just in case, you are (and I can’t think why?!!), its just one word for you..sequins!! Ghastly, monstrous sequins! Nightmare inducing sequins. Ugly, ugly sequins! And at $4890, bloody expensive sequins! Sequins are a definitive trend this Fall, but when done like this…shudders!

This one just takes the cake! The shape? The color? Everything? Priceless! Sarcasm people, sarcasm! Patchwork calfskin bag, the handles of which can also be folded over so that it can be carried like a clutch! And if you were to carry it like a clutch, with dimensions of 18″x 9″ (with acrylic panel folded over) x 2″, that is one big sized clutch to carry! Oh, and it doesn’t come cheap at $2,370!

And the bag below, oh boy! There are so many things wrong with it, where does one start? I hate the fact that their logo is slapped all over the place (again)! I mean, there is not one teeny bit left unclaimed! I don’t know what is worse, if it is the leopard like, overtly branded appliqué logo or the ruched effect on the corners with orange topstitching…Shudders (again)!! Does anyone love their Fendi so much that they are willing to, well, carry Fendi all over them? I bet there are a few of them out there with a love for the label and $1,220 burning a serious hole in their pocket..the unfortunate’ness of it all!!
