‘Plaid’ly Speaking

There’s a thin line between preppie-chic and lumberjack-chic and ‘plaid’ does toe that fine line. While it could have been an interesting dress. Ms. Thapar ruined it with horrid footwear and big-hair! Better shoes, toned down hair and the clutch as-is would’ve had us going plaid-a-gaga!

We expected Ayesha to have worn this dress with an edge it deserves, instead it only brought back memories of a certain Ms. Saran.

Wearing One’s Own

Rosettes. Rosettes. Rosettes.

You know by now we are pretty iffy on rosettes and so of course, we are pretty iffy on these outfits spotted on Ms. Depala.

I can see how the pants or the vest might work editorially but they do nothing for us off the runway! Having said that though, we’ve still got to give props to Ayesha for making those pants and the vest (good lord, especially those pants) look understated (well, as understated as a pair of pants with rosettes and studs can look); on anyone else it would’ve been one major cringe-fest!

Who are we kidding, the pants do make us cringe! 🙂

Unless we missed the ‘Nandita Mahtani For Sir Alistair Rai’ press release, the uncanny similarity between the two is pretty discomforting!

Update: Perhaps I should have been clearer… Nandita’s collection came first!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Doing Denim Edition

This one was a toughie, I wasn’t quite sure who to accord the tag ‘The Bad’ and ‘The Ugly’ to in this ‘Doing Denim’ edition between Soha and Tulip! While Tulip’s bare midriff (a pet peeve of mine) and all too severe shoes (weather-wise) were a turn-off, Soha’s visible (inner-wear) straps and short denims paired with those chunky boots were just as much of a turn off if not more!

Needless to say, Dia gets to wear ‘The Good’ tag in this edition!
