For the Awards night, it was a custom Monisha Jaising for Sonakshi, one that she wore with jewellery from Gehna. Am a bit torn about the gown. Part of me wishes the whole gown had the sheer design but it would’ve then felt like a Murad. I also didn’t care for the slit, given the sheer bodice.

My feelings about the gown aside, Sonakshi still looked pretty good in it.

In Jatin Varma

For the Awards night, Amala picked a Jatin Varma gown, one that she paired with jewelry from Versace and Suhani Pittie and Jimmy Choo sandals. Matching purple lip color added the ever important finishing touch to her look. The gown works well on the actor; she looked nice. (Just wish she had picked different sandals!)

However, having seen Genelia wear a gown from this very collection, in the same color just a day before, the feeling of déjà vu was hard to escape. While the gowns were different from each other, having spotted the two back-to-back, they were alike enough to lack any novelty by the time Amala got around to wearing it. Bummer!

For the main Awards evening, Shraddha took a rather minimalist approach in her Mason by Michelle Mason dress. Understated make-up, side-swept hair and black ankle-strap sandals finished out the actor’s look.

For an event like this, going minimalist isn’t a bad thing. Had the look been sharp, tailored or impactful otherwise that is! Nice as she looked, this felt like a maxi dress best saved for perhaps a launch or soirée in B-town. Snooze.

Kajal walked the green carpet wearing a black and white Gauri and Nainika. I loved how the black train against the white created the illusion of an hour-glass figure and in keeping the look simple and the customary-red free, one’s eye was drawn to the gown.

I think she looked nice. What say you, Do you think she should’ve gone a bit more dramatic with the makeup?

After bringing it home in her Sabya earlier, Biapsha’s appearance in Gauri and Nainika on the IIFA green carpet felt tad anticlimactic. She looked good, no denying that. But had she picked this red number for the previous event and saved her Sabyasachi for the main Awards, it would’ve been the perfect way to close out the IIFA weekend.
