Lost The Plot: Part Deux

Having seen Ms. Kataria Puri wear her sari so well and glamorously at the Italian Day Celebrations, our expectations are that on the runway it should only get better. No such luck!

In an overzealous attempt to showcase the jewelry, the styling ended up being way too severe. Any second now she might just tuck that pallu into her waist and head to the kitchen. Or pull on her glasses and head to the classroom. Yes, sequin sari, jewelry et al.

  1. Pnp I think Neetu does not looks soooo bad.
She should have gone for lighter lip color though.
Also Pria’s sari, blouse color are better than Neetu’s.

  3. This is such a good lesson on how to wear and carry off a sari. Even if you shell major bucks on a sari, if you don’t wear it well…you’ll end up looking like….well..a teacher…. according to PnP..;)

And that sucks for me…coz I LOVE saris…but don’t have a clue on how to wear it..:(

  4. Love the way Prias worn that saree – I recently got some ombre silk chiffon in a diff. colour to this, great idea to do this type of border and blouse with it. Looks great.

  5. The first thing that hit me was the blouse is so Bhairavi Jaikishan! The flowers, the embroidery is so her design!

    Didnt the others notice that?!?!

Wish some designers got innovative n original for a change!

  6. You’ve been too kind to compare the look with the ordinary. On first glance, I felt Neetu looked downright cheap and I am being very polite here, if you know what I mean.

  7. As a teacher, and a highly educated one, who does wear glasses and cook, I am highly insulted. Teachers and home cooks can be attractive and dress well.

      • Katy,
We also cook and wear glasses and yes everyone can be attractive and dress well, except this styling on Neetu wasn’t up to par.

        ig,
This is a runway, there is an expectation for the look to be a little more glam.

      • It is not something ti be taken personally. But what it means is that if it is displayed on a ramp there has to be certain glam quotient attached to it which is lacking in Neetu.
And I have had teachers who were sexy and beautiful and always dressed in sarees traditionally.

        • i still think the comment was uncalled for reeks of prejudice. Just because you too cook, and wear glasses does not make it ok to slam teachers or cooks. You could have simply said the look was not glamorous, rather than making comparisons to teachers or people who don’t have 20/20 vision. At the end of the day, if what you were trying to say was about glamour, in your own admission, you have just said that you generalize teachers and or cooks not to be glamorous or worthy of being showcased.
