Pic 1: How is that dress different from anything we’ve ever seen before? Tackier, yes, different – No. Pic 2, 3, 4, 5: Okay, is Neeta serious? Pic 6: As a dress, this one takes the cake…eeks.
Maybe Neeta had an off year? How can she show such clothes when Rohit Bal and others show their creative work? PnP, honestly I am really trying to stick to your rules but truly, some of these clothes need to be in the WTHEYYY section.
BTW I always thought Neeta was a stylist (coz she did say in an interview for Devdas that she and SLB together chose and “bought” the x no. of sarees for the movie) and not a designer. But I guess I was wrong. She is a designer..and a terrible one at that!!!
plus now i know the reason why aishwarya has started wearing armani, dior & the rest , perhaps she got the sneak peek of this new collection way ahead of time
Errr…should I be clarifying that I hv absolutely no opinion of her other than the clothes I hv seen in the movies and on Aishwarya (in Cannes!) and in here. So, yeah, my comment is limited to her artistic ability and has nothing whatsoever to do with her as a person. The clothes in Devdas, I thought were lovely, but I also always believed that they were not of her own doing, and assumed she was a fabulous stylist. 🙂
It’s hard to believe this is the same woman that designed the stuff for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. I am convinced she had a brain transplant post-Devdas and pre-Cannes. Sad.
The clothes in Devdas were by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. Neeta Lulla didnt have anything to do with them. And this collection, well even the neighbourhood auntys running boutiques from their garage come up with something better.
You know, I’m taking a second look at all the pics. The three outfits on the right are all unmitigated disasters. But the three on the left – hmm, if you took the Devdas belts off from the first two dresses, and then dyed all three of them black or something more *normal* in color, they might not be that bad.
The first dress is a classic evening gown (complete lack of originality on Neeta’s part, I must say) but it works in terms of cut and drape. The second dress – I like the matte/shiny cross-hatching on the front, but again, it needs to be in a way more understated color so it doesn’t draw attention to the stomach. And the third dress has a great drape/fall, but shouldn’t be in chuna-green. 🙂
bad color choices, too much going on in most of the clothes, odd necklines, steroetypical accessories. This is very dissapointing indeed. Most of these clothes look like the ones backup dancers in cheap hindi or south indian movies wear during dream sequences.
Presenting Neeta Lulla for the small town auntyji’s with pan masala money. Good job Neeta – efffortless actually as you don’t have to use your head, just dig in youyr “costumes closet” for gaudy movie costumes and pass it on to the poor souls.
i like Mridula in the blue, and maybe the lime green one, nothing original but that is La Lulla for you….dont forget she styled Ash for Cannes…and we know how that turned out…
And all the socialites will be wearing these too..
The materials look incredibly cheap and hastily sewn.. A designer should makes things look expensive not the other way around
J, Neeta designed the famous blue outfit (the one in the movie poster worn by Ash), in Devdas and a couple of others, how do i know this, becos every single fashion show of hers for a year , had these outfits called the Devdas collection…Abu and Sandeep designed the lovely ghera ghagra choli worn by La Dixit in the first scene they both meet….and a couple of other stunning peices….coming back to Neeta….she has actually designed for a middle east royal family…showing them the pics of Ash in Devdas (the daughter is a freind)
i can get these done with my local tailor auntie who doesnt know the difference betw a backless and a halter.
what is wrong with the lady..think shes too busy working on getting anorexic.
Reminds me of the disasters she created for Ash for Cannes…she even managed to make Ash look tacky!! She should have been banned from fashion right then….
Maybe the over the top bling and eye scorching colors work for movies where color only adds to the drama…but certainly not for real life…..
Oh My God!!! Its truly, truly awful! It looks like some amateur designs from a Bollywood-struck teen with a bad fashion sense were suddenly brought to life. I can’t even bear to look at these anymore!!
NO originality what so ever!
VERY VERY disappointing…but to think of Nita’s creations, again, they have never really impressed us anywayz!
p.s. love this fabulous web-blog! 🙂
EWWWWWWWWWWW!
Is it a fashion show from 80s? the worst is 2nd row – right.
omg ..it all so cheap…fugly…even the models choses r so bad…eeks…ugly colors…no creativity..
really bad… really bad.. they look like old designs done to death
the last one is sooo bad…did she have to put this collection together in a hurry with leftover material from the 90s?
not promising at all!!!!
EW is all I can say
the gowns are sooo prom like…
i can totally see ash wearing them..
unimpressed

that last dress…UGGHHH….sorry, but this is no where NEAR the quality of the work of some of our other designers. Unimaginative and cheap-looking…
Oh my god, has Neeta been smoking up?
looked more like some tailor’s collection who’s new into this business
oh on a side note, I think the last dress is going to be the glory of the Kumars wardrobe pretty soon:).
plus now i know the reason why aishwarya has started wearing armani, dior & the rest , perhaps she got the sneak peek of this new collection way ahead of time

Gross.. tacky.. overdone. Could have picked better models atleast.

liking the pistachio color gown. NOTHING else!

Adit, u are right!
FASHION DEBACLE!
Completely unimagintive. Colours are beautiful though. And i really don’t know what to say about the fourth one.
I totally dont understand what she had in her mind, while doing this collection. Disappointed, especially, the silver blouse in the second pic
Hideous!! Every one of them!!
Reminds me of the disasters she created for Ash for Cannes…she even managed to make Ash look tacky!! She should have been banned from fashion right then….

what a disaster. all outfits are UGLY
loll@ madhu, hahahaha!
I think it is time for Ms. Lulla to quit her day job. ‘Nuff said.
Oh My God!!! Its truly, truly awful! It looks like some amateur designs from a Bollywood-struck teen with a bad fashion sense were suddenly brought to life. I can’t even bear to look at these anymore!!

Is is so unfair to call this collection as one created by a designer! I do not have words to describe this crap show….
All these outfits look TRASHY to me. very disappointing results from Neeta Lulla.
honestly..how tacky! what was she thinking?? they hurt my eyes!!
