In Twos
Ms. Gupta attended two events recently first in a black embroidered gown and then in a top and skirt set, both from Masaba and both featuring a dupatta (or scandi scarf if you want to call it that! :P).
Have a favorite between the two? I was more drawn to the black.

The black dress looks lovely. I don’t think that the white dress is working. It is a travesty and disgraceful that some ignorant people want to refer to dupattas as scandi scarves. I hope that they get bad karma.
can’t figure which is worse, honestly.
Somehow these outfits don’t look good at all on Neena Gupta, not one bit – there I said it. This genre of outfits needs a certain vibe/ personality or something that is missing, and feels like the round peg square hole adage. I am not being ageist here, as I usually love her other outings. Its just that these mod dresses especially the pics that bare more that Masaba routinely puts her in makes her look (for lack of a better word) awkward on her and uncomfortable to look at for the audience. Neither the muse or the artist is doing themselves any favors.
She has a fantastic figure and sex appeal which is why she can carry this. But it definitely has the wearing this to please my daughter vibe.
Liked both..
She is a gorgeous, self-confident articulate, extremely talented woman, she is more talented than most of the Bollywood leading ladies today. She was radically progressive in her actions.
and I am disappointed that these days Indian designers (who are basically just hacks, including her daughter Masaba) and BW celebrities….the only way to communicate intelligence modernity and progressiveness is by wearing skimpy hideous clothing!!!
They make themselves look and seem illiterate and crass. Congratulations
Bang on!! She would wear gorgeous sarees and simple, elegant indian wear or western wear before. Now its only travesties designed by her daughter. A Mother’s love is endless I guess:)
I find the outfits meh and like someone said, it gives “wearing this to please my daughter vibes”. Still, my affection for Neena is tremendous. I can’t help liking these appearances purely on the basis of her delightful personality. 3 cheers for Neena Ji! Such a fun, sassy, munphat progressive Delhi Aunty vibe she’s got going. The kind you know went to college during the swinging 70s, with all the residual hippi swag still intact?
